In the course of eight months a lot can happen
You can fall out of love
You can fall right back into it
You can swap holding hands for a fist bump only meant for two
You can kiss someone else
You can realize you're worth more than you even anticipated
You can momentarily forget how to exist
And then remember
You can grow to be independent
You can learn to be dependent again
You can connect with people you didn't know existed
You can confuse your feelings
You can get lost
You can find your way out of a hole you dug for yourself
You can be trusted again
You may not call him love, or babe
And you may not say "no nothings" anymore
You may not be in love with him
You may not lean on him how you used to
But you are best friends.
That's maybe how it should be.
Best friends.
So maybe you don't use the same greetings and goodbyes.
But these are better. Cause these are grown.
Grown through all of the trials you experienced with eachother
Just...together again. But not the same way.
I do love you __, but this time not you alone.
Because I love me too.
