Suppression is funny
Well not "haha" funny, more "intricate and tragic" funny
Because suppression says:
Just let it be, you're fine, don't think about it
Don't over react
Don't make a bad joke
Don't be over dramatic
Don't say something wrong
Don't laugh too loud
Don't be clumsy
Don't be you?Don't be over dramatic
Don't mess up
Don't over react
Calm downSo those are the inner thoughts of someone who has been beaten down for too long?
Those are the thoughts of someone hoping for more?
Hoping for a world of color bigger and better than she could ever be?Because I always thought a revolutionaries thoughts were more along the lines of:
Sing off key
Dance poorly
Break things
Mess up
Laugh too loud
Make awful jokes
Misspeak
Snap
Cry
Because it's okay
Be you! That's what everyone says isn't it?
Be yourself?
But then when a revolutionary tries- they're shut down.Their swirling clouds and entire worlds of beauty and color and explosions of strawberry and lime are brought to a halt.
Their laughter is said to be just too loud for the rest of the population, and they're told to shush because how could they make so much noise?
Their thoughts like a galaxy and endless scribbles of what could be, what captivates and encapsulates who they are, all of that is shut down.Suppression is funny, because it's not typically noticed.
It's the little things.
The things that stop most people from being revolutionary.
The things like:
"How can you know? You're too young."
And
"That's great sweetie! Now go work on something important."
And
"Oh, yeah sure that's cool, but look at this way more practical thing I'm doing"
It's the quiet silencing of the brilliantSuppression is funny, in that it isn't funny at all.
