I knew that I wasn't the top of my class
Yet somehow the words spoken cut like a knife

The tears running down my face were cold
Cold with sadness and pain
Cold with misery and rain

Somehow I wished they were hot
Hot like hope and fire
Hot like happiness but this is a lie

They were slow those tears
They remained on my cheeks for what seemed like years

I thought that I was smart
I thought I was okay
I should've known to throw that thought away

Of course I always knew
"You're not smart enough" I tell myself well
Neither are you.

According to them, I am disabled
I am a hopeless cause ready to be decabled

I know they don't care
They say that's a lie
But why say that when it'll just make me cry

"You have potential" they say
"Why do you go and throw it away?"

Of course I don't mean to
You say I'm wasting my life
How can this be true when you're the one causing me the strife

I hate this feeling
Of pain and remorse
Not even for a good cause
Just because you thought I was dumber than my worth
