Chapter 7
Once everything was discussed, Sebastian sent me home with George. I didn't want to leave my room especially after what had happened this morning. I wasn't sulking but I was embarrassed. Embarrassed to face everyone in the house again. I was in my room thinking over what all the things we have discussed this evening. Sebastian would be coming to my house soon with his family to meet mine where our families will discuss our marriage details. I was very nervous with the thought of meeting his family and I guess he must have sensed it because he promised me it won't be happening in upcoming few days which gave me the time to prepare myself.
I sighed, thinking about how my life would be in a month. I would be married to someone I barely know. Although Sebastian seemed to be a nice person but being just nice wasn't enough to get married to that person. I wanted to know my husband better before getting married to him but here I hardly know what my future husband's last name is. I huffed and snuggled more into my bed. I was trying hard to sleep but my overthinking nature wasn't letting me sleep and my empty stomach was not very much helping my situation. There was a very gentle knock on the door and I let out a groaned in frustration.
"Come in Elizabeth...why do you even knock." The door opened but in place of Elizabeth came Ken holding a tray of food and I as soon as I saw him I sat up.
"You...I thought it's Elizabeth." I said adjusting my hair, which was a mess.
"Yeah...this is for you...she told me you didn't have dinner." He said placing a tray in front of me.
"I wasn't hungry." I lied looking down in my lap.
"I...I understand." He said and I looked up at him. He was still standing beside my bed.
"Please sit." I told him and he sat on the edge of my bed nervously. It seems as if he wanted to talk about something but he wasn't.
"I met Sebastian." I broke the silence and spoke for him.
"I know...he told me." He said and I nodded. Of course, he knows.
"He even told me you signed the prenup papers before reading." He said and I nodded again.
"You have read those papers. There was no point in reading them." I shrugged.
"Still Katherine...you should have known what was in them." He said in a bit loud voice.
"You are my big brother and I know you wouldn't let anything bad happen to me. I know you must have read all the clauses before and made sure they are okay. I trust you." I said and suddenly I saw his face drop and he looked away. There was a long pause in between us when I broke it again.
"Did you and Dad have dinner?" I asked and he nodded still looking down. It really hurts me sometimes seeing how Dad neglects me but I know that he cares, maybe he doesn't know how to show it.
"Eat something Katherine. I know you hadn't had anything since morning." He said and his voice was filled with guilt but his concern made me smile brightly. I removed the lid from my plate and my stomach rumbled seeing the sight of steak in my plate.
"Seth asked for your number. He said he forgot to ask you." He said and I frowned as I sliced my steak.
"Then you should have given him my number." I said and he sighed in guilt.
"I..I didn't have your number." He said and I felt bad.
How strange it was for a brother of not having his sister's number on his phone?
