brett believed in the supernatural. he didn't understand why nobody else thought it existed. the endless and unexplained incidents never led to just odd occurrences or a "coincidence" there was a reason. even if it didn't sound reasonable.
so when he ran into a girl appearing out of nowhere he knows that the supernatural is real.
