thirty three - dolan twins

july 20th, 2037

"nevaeh, go call your brothers please. they need to set the table."

nevaeh is mine and ethan's daughter, we had her three years after adam and noah, just like we had wanted. nevaeh was eleven, and definitely took after me. she had ethan's dark hair features, but my facial structure.

ethan was coming home from work any minute, and the spaghetti i was preparing was almost done. i hear nevaeh screaming at her brothers, and finally there were a pair of loud stomps coming down the stairs. the boys were 14 now, and had a whole lot of attitude at times.

"yes, mom?" noah asks, holding up his iphone 9s.

"set the table please, your dad will be home any minute and then we're going to eat! and get off that damn phone. i swear that's all you kids do these days." i hiss.

adam and noah listen, grabbing the table cloth and laying it out on the table while nevaeh, without being asked, grabs the plates and utensils and begins setting them for everyone.

"thanks boys, thanks sweetie." i smile.

suddenly the front door begins to jiggle and nevaeh races towards it. "daddy! daddy's home!"

ethan walks in, crouching down to embrace her in a hug like always. "hey sweetie! how was school today?"

she smiles, "good, how was work?"

ethan presses his lips against mine, before answering. "it was good."

noah and adam walk by and say hi to their dad, and ethan ruffles with their hair. "wow, don't you boys keep looking like your uncle gray and i by the minute."

"you say that everyday dad." noah groans with a smile.

"because it's mind blowing, i have two twin boys who look exactly like me and my twin." ethan exclaims.

"okay, everyone come make a plate. and put your cellphones away!" i glare at them.

"instasnap is being so slow! it won't stop glitching!" adam groans.

ethan chuckles, "make sure you don't send any nudes while it's glitching."

i playfully hit ethan's chest, seeing what he was referring to.

"ew, don't talk about nudes. you're old." noah laughs, running a hand through his hair like ethan always does.

"pardon me?" i laugh. "your dad and i are not old."

"yeah you are. you guys were around when the iphone 6 was around, you're old." adam laughs.

i roll my eyes playfully, and join everyone while we eat. this was my favourite part of the day, getting together and eating dinner, we always had so many stories to share and memories to talk about.

it was friday, and friday nights were movie nights. at least for ethan, nevaeh and i. the boys were always together doing some idiotic that ethan and i would have to get them in trouble for.

"what movie do you wanna watch?" ethan asks nevaeh.

"i don't know, you pick!" she exclaims. cuddling herself up in the middle of ethan and i. she was my little sweetheart.

ethan shrugs, and just picks a random movie on netflix while we all eat the popcorn mixed with m&m's. we could hear the boys jumping around in their room upstairs and it sounded like the walls were gonna break.

"just like me and gray were." ethan chuckles, shaking his head. "my poor parents."

"mommy, daddy?"

ethan and i look down at nevaeh who seems to have a face of curiosity.

"how long have you been married for?" she asks.

ethan replies faster than i can. "seventeen years now. we got married in 2023, when your brothers were born."

nevaeh nods.

"why'd you ask sweetie?" i ask.

she shrugs. "my teacher said that when you marry someone it's true love. and i said my parents had that."

"well my little princess, you are correct. your parents do have that!" ethan smiles, attacking her with tickles.

the familiar pair of foot steps make their way down the stairs in stomps and adam and noah look nervous.

"what did you guys break now?" i ask, my hand rubbing my forehead.

"nothing!" noah chuckles. "we just have a question."

"what is it?" ethan asks.

"could you guys buy us a professional recording camera for our fifteenth birthday?" noah asks.

"a professional camera? why?" i chuckle.

"we have an idea." they glance at each other.

"and that is?" ethan asks.

"a youtube channel." they reply in unison.

"a youtube channel." i ponder, "what would you guys call it?"

they smile, "the dolan twins."

ethan turns to look at me with a smile. "well i guess we'll think about it, won't we precious?"
