Today was the day, the day I was leaving behind everything I ever knew. Away from all my friends, my mom, my sister, my home. Starting a new adventure. After my mom, Xeva, and I got into the car we started the long drive to San Diego. My mom wanted to drive most of the way so she had the radio so that she could stay awake. I love some of her music but most of the time I couldn't handle it. I decide that it was time to plug my headphones in and listen to Spotify. The only problem with this is that most of the songs I like remind me of Ash. He always liked to express his feelings by telling me a new song to listen to. Of course, the first song that came on was Stay by Florida Georgia Line. This song does not help me with the decision I made to break up with him.
If I told you that I loved you,
Would it make you wanna stay?
I'm sorry for the way I hurt you
And making you walk away!
If I wrote you a love song,
And sang it to you every day,
Would it ever be enough to make you wanna stay?
He was always really good at finding a song that would help me understand how he was feeling. He dedicated this song to me when we were arguing in high school. He wanted me to know that he wanted to fix things, again. This was the 4th time that we fought and I was over the drama and I told him goodbye. He sent this song to me and we were okay for another few days.
The drive was long but after a long 15 hours in the car, we arrived at my aunt's house so we could stay there a night then do some more driving the next day. It was great to see my aunt, we don't see her very often.
"Xori, are you excited to get started at college?" Aunt Sophia asks.
"I'm ready, just a little nervous. I don't know anyone so that will make it a little difficult."
"You will make some new friends."
"Yeah, I hope so."
"Are you guys hungry? You had a long drive." Sophia asks.
"I'm STARVING!" Xeva shouts.
"What do you want?" mom asks.
"TEXAS ROADHOUSE!" I shout.
"Okay, we can do that since we will miss your birthday in a few weeks. It will be a birthday dinner."
"Yay! Thank you, mom!" We all pile into Sophia's car. We arrive at the restaurant and got to our table. We all eat steak and we enjoy laughing and talking about all that is going on in our lives. Mom talked about how work has been crazy with a new doctor. She is an eye technician, so she gets patients ready to see their doctor. Xeva talked about this new boyfriend of hers. She seems to really like him. If he hurts her I will be on the first plane back home to kick his ass. We may fight all the time but that does not mean that I don't care. I talk about how excited I am for school but, I don't say anything about Ash.
I never told Xeva and mom that I was dating Ash. So they never asked how we were doing. Ash did not want to tell anyone that we were dating and my family was no exception. My mom did not like him because of all the things that we went through while we were in high school. I mean who could blame her? He asked out my best friend to make me mad because of a fight we had just had. So it was probably good that I never told my mom. He came over the other night when my mom was out with some friends. I had to break up with him then because I wanted to be in my room crying before my mom got home.
"What do you think Xori?" Sophia asks.
"What? Sorry, I zoned out."
"Wanna pick a movie when we get back?"
