June 21
It is the Equinox today.
A most important day
A gift so special to all of us one might say
Given to all of us in a very special way
It is the longest day of the year
Sometimes we get such short days here
The sun is warm and bright and so near
The sky is glorious and clear
The hopes of all the youngsters
Are boiled down into this time
Don’t envy them they earned it
And if they don’t get it, it would be a crime
These two months were paid for by 10
That’s five to one
Five to one I will say again
Maybe if things were good you could say 9
December is not all that bad
In it comes Christmas
Not much time then to be sad
Though the winds howl
And the temperature makes all the skiers glad
I think that I have passed that time of life
And now I’m sad that I have no wife
No kids to make me feel any joy
To give a special Christmas toy
Let’s think of June though, those sunny times
When the sun stays out and brightly shines
And the girls come out to outdoor pools
And the skinny boys try to get to know them
And often look like fools
All of them want some romantic lover
And to fill their souls with the companionship of another
Once again though summer time makes my thoughts drift away
To what I used to love, the times I most liked to play
So many on the borderline will pass away
Fall upon their own sword or find another way
For some days like Christmas remind them they are alone
And wish we knew a person who we could phone
One day bring wholly in your life and make a home
When they can step outside their comfort zone
If you are younger, perhaps your mother’s love is enough
If you are older, perhaps you can be tough
Get through those times of year when loneliness is so rough
I tell you now, don’t let too many days go past
And I tell you that days will go fast
Then your way of life inside a die will be cast
And you will be alone until the last
It already begins to work upon the young adult
You take your chances, face the tumult
Go to a bar just to get out
Fish for a lover like they were a trout
You drink a little until you feel more at ease
You turn down the ones that beg you ‘please…’
Until an opportunity comes along you want to seize
And you hope your love isn’t left in the breeze
I tell you now that is not romance
No matter how good it feels to drink and dance
You must work hard to build a love for it to have a chance
Real men and women commit to one another
before they take off their pants
And in the clubs more drinks come as it gets late
And few people in there find a satisfying date
The drink and loneliness makes them open up the gate
Let in people they rightfully should hate
Do not forget the sun shines now for you
And no one will tell you the right thing to do
What I am about to say is nothing new
Find a lover who truly cares for you
And make a bond with them, a love that’s true
Together walk this beautiful earth
Together feel a complete rebirth
As you realize your lover’s inner worth
Don’t trade your soul for a night of mirth
If somehow you can build a love
And in your own way have it blessed from above
You will find peace upon you descending like a dove

PoesíaThis is a chapbook of poetry that led me to dedicate myself to writing, whether it be for money or simply to express myself. In this book I talk about family, love, loss and all the illusions that life brings us through.
