Never Forget Me Brave Hawaii
Some years ago a dream was born from deep within my soul
It seemed to me if I didn’t achieve it I never would feel whole
It took some time but finally came, and it felt so good I will share it with you now
It was to make it to Hawaiian shores no matter when or how
For a long time I thought it would never be, that it simply was a dream
But I made it there and got to see things like huge volcanoes steam
I got to swim in crystal ocean water, to see the bright tropical fish
My trip was just eight days long, but I got to fulfill every wish
That land is so amazing, the people kind and sweet
So many things to see there, so many special meals to eat
I’m back now in my prairie home, I’m back among the cold
But I feel I now have the soul of an Islander, and Islanders don’t grow old
Hawaii please never change at all, Hawaii stay the same
I will go back to see you again, I just had to return to my little game
My little madness of two steps forward, one and a half steps back
I need to save a little and wait a little but I now have a special tack
I’m going to work myself until I’m half gone I’m going to save up every dime
I’m going to make your tropical shores my home before it becomes my time
Hawaii you have now become part of me, there is no other way
The next time that I reach your shores with a little luck I will get to stay
Now I’ve seen Oahu, with Pearl Harbor, Honolulu and Waikiki
Now I’ve snorkeled those deep blue waters and tanned as I listened to the sea
I’ve been to the Big Island and drove your coastline and your lava fields
I’ve tasted Kona coffee and eaten all that your soil yields
Hawaii if it is possible, I think that I love you more than my home
In all the time I spent with you I never felt the slightest bit alone
Although I hail from Canada and I know our land is strong and free
Just two visits to Hawaii could well make an American out of me.

Poems From Inside Me
PoetryThis is a chapbook of poetry that led me to dedicate myself to writing, whether it be for money or simply to express myself. In this book I talk about family, love, loss and all the illusions that life brings us through.
