Alone
Look at that old couple
Forty years together
So much like each other
Much more than a sister or a brother
How will one of them go on
When their mate is gone
When their brightest stars have shone
And death keeps calling on and on
Alone
It seems that I am just a son
And my courting years are done
I would not have told you or anyone
I traded happiness to play and run
I once had my perfect chance
To ask the perfect girl to dance
She stole my heart with just a glance
But my thoughts were far away
Alone
So many words to say
To our folks before they pass away
I don't look forward to that day
I need my Dad now more than ever
Though he soon will rest forever
And both my parents will be together
The ties that bind us will be severed
I would not be so alone
If I had a love to call my own
Talk for hours on the phone
Find a way to share a home
Alone
I had to let go of my mom
Years of happiness all done
Gone to be with the only one
Who is God's true only son
I hope that my parents one day find their rest
In a place totally blessed
And forget that my presence made a mess
Of their lovely little nest
Forget all of what I said
Except to pray for all the dead
And those they leave behind
Who can't break the ties that bind
Alone
One heart stops beating in the night
Another won't give up the fight
Though things just don't seem right
And no one cares about their plight
Soon the one left on earth a short while longer
No longer thinks they are the stronger
And they want to join their lover
For talk and love and laughter
Alone
Talk and love and laughter
In the place that will be ever after
Peace, contentment and their loved one
Sick of living, life here is done
It must be horrid to keep living
In a world with no more happiness to keep bringing
To make a tired old senior keep on giving
Left to shuffle on all for nothing
And so most of them just stop trying
It is so sad to see a person dying
But look at what was taken
Everything if I'm not mistaken

Poems From Inside Me
PoetryThis is a chapbook of poetry that led me to dedicate myself to writing, whether it be for money or simply to express myself. In this book I talk about family, love, loss and all the illusions that life brings us through.
