Was Never Enough

Sleepy head

Alyssa : His words kept playing in my head again and again
" I don't know what will happen tomorrow but I want you to never leave me "
After thinking for hours I decided to look for the matter in one of his files .
I turned a bit to look at him and he was deep in sleep so very carefully I removed his hand which was draped over my waist . I tip toed towards the door and went outside .

The hall was filled with papers which were now lying here and there . His phone was on the floor in pieces and laptop was on the table .

I huridly tied my hair into a bun after which I picked all the papers and assembled them. Then i had to arrange the pieces of his phone together so it would work and help me out with this situation but I was out of luck and the phone didn't even start .

Then I saw my phone on the kitchen counter and I realised that I hadn't used my phone since the day he came back . So, I went over to check for any missed calls or messages and I was shocked that there were 78 missed calls and 18 messages from Blake , 5 from Jessica , and 12 from some unknown number and a message from the same .

Blake and the unknown numbers calls and messages were from the day I locked myself and fainted . Most of the Blake's messages were apologies and asking me if I was fine or if I had something to eat or not . I could sense that he was concerned, my heart melted a bit at this thought . But it is even possible that he just called me so many times because I never picked his calls and he doesn't take such an insult easily . So these calls are just for proving a point and the messages are just a fake concern to hide his fault and if he thinks that I would believe the games that he plays then he is just wrong .

Then my mind shifted to the unknown number . There were 12 missed calls so I guess it was something important . I checked the message
" Hey Alyssa , I am Cole on of Blake's friend and I know we haven't met but please just contact Blake as soon as possible. I believe that you are someone special to Blake because he is upset as hell from the time he has entered the office . He is really worried for you . So please pick up his call or you could tell me anything you want. Please Alyssa give him a chance , just here him out."

Oh so it was from Cole I guess the guy in the hospital that day . He is definitely that guy , Blake really showed trust in him and we even dropped him home . Blake is really lucky to have a friend who can even lie for him . I saved his number and called him.

I know it was late but I really wanted to know what was happening . It ringed for a while but then he eventually picked it up .

" hello Cole " I said in a low voice .
" oh ahm hi Alyssa ,you can tell me if Blake has done something bad . I'll put some sense in his mind right away . And don't be ....." he sounded a bit serious and I didn't want to break Blake's face at this moment so I interrupted.

" no no it's not what you are thinking , he is rather caring right now but I just wanted to ask if something important is going to happen tomorrow or something which matters to Blake a lot " I waited for his answer but he took a minute

" I don't think Blake would like if you know and also there is nothing so big to stress about , he'll do fine he might just be a bit tensed but that's it . You don't worry about it " I knew that he wasn't willing to tell me the whole matter .

" see Cole if you don't want to tell me then it's fine but I really wanted to help you guys and Blake is really tensed " I said in a pleading manner.

" Okay, I'll tell you but you can't tell Blake about this, otherwise he'll kill me . From the day you fainted and we were all in hospital , Blake couldn't give much attention to office . He tried to handle it from there but as his company is new and emerging there are many rivals and not many people that he can trust and it was only yesterday that he was informed about the meeting with the fund providers for his new project . I asked his secretary to inform him about it, like weeks ago but she never did and so that's it . He fired her the moment he heard about her mistake. But that doesn't solve the problem here because if he didn't get the approval for the project then he'll face a major loss or he might even lose his company because of lack of funds . He had given himself to this project all his funds and companies share are at risk.  "

I was out of words . This whole time he acted so cool and stayed by my side when he had such bigger issues to solve rather . Even today he left his work to sleep in with me .

" a a a Cole can you tell me which file is it maybe I could you know, help him or something . I always use to help my dad in his official meetings and preparations . Also I want to give the favour back " I asked him in a really soft voice as I wasn't sure that he might tell me or not .

" Its a thick red file and it's also saved in the laptop . If you want anymore details about the investments or the association then I could email you those files " he suggested .

" that'll be great Cole . I really look forward to help you guys . Thanku "
I said with enthusiasm.

" okay kiddo bye " I sensed him smiling through the phone .

" Byee" after ending the call , I headed towards the pile of papers and caught his laptop .

As I started with the study and preparations. I continuously worked for hours , I could even gather a lot of informations about their earlier investment patterns and interests.

I grabbed a few cups of coffee to pay attention . After nearly 5 to 6 hours and 3 cups of coffee I finished the presentation and gather all the informations about the eligible investors . I then transferred all these informations in to a pen drive and I relaxed for a bit .

I gathered the cups and washed them as I realised that it was 6:15 AM already and Blake would wake up any moment now so I quickly manage to sneak into the bed again . It really helps that he is not a light sleeper otherwise it would be hard to sneak into the bed again .

I was lying on my side of the bed instead of his but the moment Blake turned towards my side he covered most of the space that I created and our arms were brushing each other .

I then observed all his beautiful features and just like that I faded into sleep .

Blake : I woke up with the best feeling in so many years as when I woke up I found Alyssa's hand placed on my cheek and the close proximity of our faces . I felt the warmth that passed through just her hand into my whole body . I itched to touch her and kiss her full lips and just hold her as for as long as I could .

I always feel the need to protect her and I can't control my self from admiring her everyday but I eventually can't show her the way I feel until I get to know the reasons behind her sudden reaction. She didn't even contacted to me for years and then when I visited her house she ignored me . She never approached me and when I asked her to stay for a bit she refused . We never had a real conversation since the time she left and then she confessed her love suddenly on the day of the wedding forcing her sister into leaving the house . She never really try to hit on me or kiss me or do something to impress me rather she tried to run away every time I am around . Even when I tried to kiss her she never kissed me back not even once .

All these thoughts kept on revolving in my head . I brushed all these thoughts as I got up to make some breakfast for the both of us as she might be hungry we didn't even had dinner yesterday .

I made some toast and poured two glasses of orange juice but I noticed that all the papers that were scattered around were arranged neatly and beside that were my laptop and pieces of phone . I guess she might have cleaned it up when I was asleep .

I placed the food on the side table . I debated for a bit as I was wondering that I should or should not wake her up. After a while I softly called out her name .
" Alyssa get up it's already eight and I don't think you like to wake at lunch time ."
" Alyssa.....Al ........Alyssa......Alyssa" she didn't even moved a bit so I just shook her a bit then she opened her eyes really slowly , rubbing them and with that she finally woke up .

" Hey good morning sleepy head, now get up and eat your breakfast , you haven't eaten anything for dinner yesterday . Also you have to take some medicines." I said with a plane smile , I didn't want her to think that I care for her but I don't think these words would help me a bit .

I expected her to revolt a bit or at least argue about me waking her up so early while she did the thing that I never expected .

As she just stood up , without a word and she straight went towards the door .
