Abby's POV

A day full of rescues, but it's not over yet. I'm with Harrison driving through the beach for the last patrol as the lifeguard service is shutting down for the evening, it's about time too. Harrison gives me the megaphone and I raise a brow.

"What?" I ask.

"I'm giving you the honors of closing down lifeguard service."

"You're giving the rookie this task, Hutz?" I chuckle.

He nods with a wide smile, I smile back and go stand on the back of the rhino. "Attention to all swimmers, the lifeguard service is closing down for the evening. I recommend you get out of the water because of the rough tides, thank you everyone. We'll be back tomorrow at 6 am!"

Harrison gives me a thumbs up and we drive back to the tower. The signs are in and the boards are in the garage so it's all clear on the beach. I follow Harrison up into the tower to check out, writing down how many rescues we've done and so on.

"Good job, 6 rescues!" Harrison chuckles. "You sure you are just a rookie?" He asks.

I give him the pen. "Who you calling a rookie?"

We're the last ones that are left in the tower so it's us who is going to lock up tonight. I follow Harrison out and he locks the doors and garage. I lean back on the rails, looking out at the sun setting, it reminds me how quiet it can be sometimes.. like how sometimes reality doesn't make sense.

"You did great, compared to my first day." Harrison comes to stand next to me.

I turn my head to look at his facial fixtures, he's a handsome one.. I'd fall victim to him if I wasn't so hung up on someone else.

"I bet you were a classic starter, did a mistake but the next rescue was gold."

He chuckles. "You read me so well, Abby."

I nod. "Sure I do."

He sighs and stretches his arms. "Do you have a ride home, or do you want one?"

I shake my head. "I live 10 minutes away, I'm fine walking."

"Don't be silly!" He waves it off. "I'm going to take you home, come on."

"Harrison..."

"Abby.."

I laugh. "Okay, take me home, Hutz.."

He grins. "Thank you."

And that he does, I show him the direction to my flat and we arrive in 5 minutes. He stops the car and I turn in my seat to face him.

"Thank you, Hutz." I lean in and give him a hug. "You working tomorrow?"

"Yep." He says. "See you then?"

"Yeah, see you!"

I close the car door and pop into my apartment, when I close the door I hear shifting in the apartment, I frown. What the hell...? Taking a kitchen knife I walk around the lounging area and see popcorn on the coffee table, well shit. There's only one person who'd be wasting popcorn like that.

"Mac!?"

She chuckles and walks out of my bedroom. "A kitchen knife, really?"

I roll my eyes and put it back in the holder. "Okay smart ass, what are you doing in my place? Where did you get my key?"

She shrugs. "Might have had it copied."

"Of course you did."

"So!" She dumps herself onto the couch. "How was work?"

"Action packed, I didn't know that much people got themselves into that much trouble." I lean on the corner of the couch, crossing my arms. "But I loved every minute of picking up a person in the ocean and seeing them happy that they got out."

She groans. "You're too good, Abs."

I chuckle. "Alright Mac, I've got to get to bed.. I need to be up at 5 am. So show yourself out when you want to." I pat the couch and walk toward my bedroom.

"Abby?"

I turn. "Ye?"

She smiles softly. "I'm glad you got your dream job... finally."

"Yeah, me too."
