Abby's POV
I adjust the microphone on my arm and walk the steps to the tower as Chappo is opening the tower up.
"Morning!"
"Heya, Abby."
"What can I do?"
"Well, Azza and Maxi are putting boards and signs up. I guess nothing that related, check in and we'll see who you'll be with and where you'll be positioned."
"Good on me." I nod.
... Maxi's here today? That's pretty much strike 2 isn't it? God why was I blowing myself up..? He's cute... hot, alright, smoking hot. What I'm doing here is going through a crush, it's a phase.
"Does Maxi know that I work here yet?" I ask, sitting at the desk.
"I haven't told him, but he knows about a trainee that's been here for a while."
I nod.
"Chap, I think--"
Me and Chappo turn and look over to the door, well... There's Maxi!
"Wait a second.. Abby!?" Maxi chuckles.
I laugh and walk over, leaving Chappo to look after the ocean again. "Hi, Maxi."
"What are you doing here, bluebottle?" He smirks.
I do a swirl and point down to the blue lifeguard shirt. "You didn't know I was a trainee when you spotted me on the beach with a sting, then?" I tease.
He laughs and pulls me in for a side hug. "Chappo, pair me and this one between the flags, ye?"
Chappo laughs and writes something down. "Got radios with you? You're free to start working."
"Chappo, just to let you know, bluebottles are forecast." Maxi winks and leads me down to the rhino.
I shake my head and chuckle softly. "Bluebottles again then?"
"Try not to get stung this time." He winks as me and we ride out.
We arrive at the flags and Maxi immediately finds someone in trouble, he gets out of his shirt and into the water with the board, I pick up the radio.
"Maxi's going in for a rescue." I radio in.
"Eyes on him now, thanks Abs."
"My new nickname now, Chappo?"
"You needed one anyway!" He chuckles.
When Maxi cam back, I threw him him shirt and he comes to sit on the sand beside the rhino.
"It's a big surprise to me that you're here, Abby."
I keep my eyes on the ocean, I wanted to turn to him and tell him I'm surprised as he is.. but safety is what counts on the beach.
"I love surprises." He adds.
I laugh. "Are you flirting with me, Lifeguard?"
"What makes you think that, Lifeguard?" He smirks back at me.
"I'm going for a paddle.." I pick up my board, looking at the child in the current.
I run into the water with the board trailing beside me and paddle to the child in the water, she looks up at me and thanks me as she climbs onto the board.
"Where's your mother?" I ask the girl as we get to shore.
"Over there." She points to the woman tanning.
I frown and go to the woman, I clear my throat and the woman looks up at me with a raised brow. "Hello, how are you? I just saved your daughter from drowning. You have to look after your child in the water, it's not safe otherwise."
"She was in the middle of the flags, where all the other kids are, don't be ridiculous!"
I raise a brow. "I came to tell you about your daughter and the rules, that's all. Don't get all defensive."
"Who are you to tell me how to be a parent!?" She stands up.
Maxi's about to assist me but I put my hand out to stop him, he smiles lightly in return and surrenders, standing back.
"I'm a lifeguard, ma'am. And I'm telling you to look after your daughter.. so, good day." I smile and walk back to the rhino.
"You're a tough one." Maxi chuckles and sits back, looking at some swimmers that are being crazy teens.
I grin. "You're beginning to get to know the girl behind the sting."
