Abby's POV
After a great evening out with Maxi he walks me home, I open the door to my apartment and turn to look at him, he just stands there with his hands in his pockets, not making a move.
"Will you be sleeping over tonight?" I ask him.
He smiles at me. "I think I've overstayed."
"You haven't." I hug him suddenly, what made me do it? No idea.
He squeezes me back. "You're something else, Jenson." He lets me go.
"I'm nothing special." I say.
He raises a brow. "How come? To me you're special."
I frown. "I am...?"
He clears his throat and steps back. "I should get going then, we both have early starts."
I smile. "You can come in for a bit."
"No, it's fine, really." He nods quickly and struggles a bit with something before he leans down and presses a faint kiss to my head. "See you tomorrow, Abs."
"Goodnight, Maxi." I say quietly because I couldn't gather up the strength to say it louder, he's taken it all.
I watch him leave and I gasp when I shut the door behind me, dammit I was so fucking stuck on this lifeguard that I might end up getting hurt. He's not interested in being in a relationship with me, I wouldn't blame him! He's been in a messed up one and has just been through getting rid of the woman! .. Who apparently wants to get him back in her grip, what else could it be? Her staying over at a ex-boyfriend's house for a week almost... just doesn't make any sense.
I get ready for bed after a shower and tie up my hair in a messy bun before throwing my covers back I hear my phone ringing. I race to grab it and put it to my ear to answer without looking at whose actually calling me.
"Hello?"
"You've got to come down to the beach."
I raise a brow. "Maxi?"
"Quickly!" He chuckles.
"What's going on?"
"Dolphins."
With that one word I'm already rushing for shorts and a sweater to go down to the beach, I take my phone and keys without looking at my appearance before rushing to the beach, it takes me 5 minutes to get there by running like I'm a mad woman.
Maxi's grabbing a surf board and waves me over when he sees me, I run quickly to join him.
"Come on, we're going in!" He grins.
"But I'm not wearing--"
He takes my arm and shakes his head with a smile, he puts the board in and tells me to get on the board in front of him. I comply and we paddle out into the ocean past the waves and currents. When we stop he points to the side and I turn only to gasp quietly.. it's a school of dolphins..
"It's so beautiful." I whisper. "How come they're out this late?"
"No idea." He leans forward, so his head rests over my shoulder.
"It's the first time I've ever seen them." I say, amazed.
He turns super quiet as we watch the dolphins swim past, I watch as the last one leaves after 10 minutes of watching them and turn around on the board so I'm facing Maxi, he's not smiling anymore and just watching me intensely.
"Thanks for calling me." I say.
"I wanted you to see the dolphins swim past, it's a once in a month thing." He smiles softly.
"You know... I think you called me down for another reason." I lean back... why did I just say that!?
He takes my arm and soothingly runs his hand up and down, pulling me closer. "You are right about that."
I raise a brow. "Am I?"
"I've wanted to do this since the first time you stepped into the tower." He says.
"Do what--"
He pulls me toward him on the board and brushes his lips on mine, I gasp and my arms wrap around his neck, pulling him closer. And that's when all my decent thoughts flew out of the window. He leans away and smiles sweetly at me, brushes his hand through my hair and pulls me back in for another sweet kiss.
"That was.." I whisper, shocked out of my mind.
He grins and puts his hands on my hips. "Maybe the dolphins gave me the extra courage..?"
I pull him in again and look into his eyes. "Maybe."
