Abby's POV
I dump my bag on the cliff and look down at the water.. why do I have a best friend that does this...? I'm dead.
"You look nervous." Mac comes from behind me and grins down at the water. "Not a fan of cliff diving?"
"You know I'm not a fan of cliff diving, so are you going to give me a chance to back out?"
"Not a chance, Carla might have had something so she couldn't come... but you're here and I can't let you back off from this fun activity."
I sigh. "Alright, so let's do this..."
She jumps with joy and looks at the amount of waves and winces. "Darling, do you like being pushed around?"
"Possibly dangerous to jump into this." I groan. "Being a lifeguard is being pushed around by waves, and by you spotting waves that could push us against the cliff, I'm going to warn you.. being a fucking lifeguard.."
She chuckles. "We'll be fine for god's sake!"
I roll my eyes. "What do I do..?"
We get more settled up and I look down from the cliff, okay now I'm pretty sure the nerves are reaching high. I close my eyes and take deep breaths, I don't get to tell Mac anything because I see her in the corner of my eye... Jumping off the fucking cliff!
I widen my eyes and watch her smash into the water, she pops her head above the waves and waves at me. I shake my head at her, her influence is so bad on me.. I take a breath and then jump against my better judgement. Splashing against the water a little later, gasping when I swim up the surface Mac's grinning again.
"That was different." I say.
She laughs. "You loved it."
We swim back to shore with a bit of difficulty because the tough tides, then I let my hair down from it's bun and shake it out. Mac looks around us and taps my shoulder, I turn around to see the one and only... Trent Maxwell... Maxi.
"Hello, girls." Maxi says with a wide smile. "Swimming?"
I cross my arms. "Cliff diving..." I mutter back.
He frowns at me, confused. Mac clears her throat loudly and chuckles lightly. "Well, I've got to get to work, sweetie. See you later... Trent." She nods at him and jogs off toward her car.
"I thought we were cool, Abby."
I shrug. "For one moment, maybe I wanted to give you something to shut up." I say and start walking away.
"Abby, give a guy a break! Oh, I work with you too, so don't try ignoring me... think about the job for the time being!"
I stop and tilt my head toward him. "If I forgive you, will you give me a break too?"
He smiles. "If you forgive me I'll start fixing up what I've done wrong and take you on a real date, which will end up with a goodnight's kiss."
I scoff. "Right, and then you take a week away."
He groans. "Okay, you know what? I'm done trying.." He throws his arms up. "I'm said sorry a thousand times, wanted to fix things and told you that the kiss wasn't a mistake. What do you want me to do, Abby? What am I suppose to do, to at least get your friendship back?"
He walks away and I shake my head at the behavior from me.. hell, he is right. I wish that there was something to fix us up because what he did was wrong but I continued all the mess from then on.. But maybe there's something I can do :)
And maybe, I don't want just friendship, but that'll have to wait.
