Silence

(Kaneki POV)

Silence, that's all I ever hear. Nothing, but that. Never anyone's voice or never the leaves crunching under my feet. That's why I always chose to read. That way I'm always doing something. Life eventually got boring for me, I didn't have friends and my mom was busy every second of the day. I was hopeless, until one day, just in one day my whole life changed. It changed for the best.

It was like any other day, I was reading my favourite book on a hill. It was sunset and I was feeling good, but then I heard it. I heard something or should I say someone.

"I don't mean to intrude but why are you always reading books by yourself?" His voice was wonderful! I'm glad it was the first thing I ever heard.

"Is that wrong?" I asked. The boy looked down on me.

"Nah you're fine, lemme shoot straight with ya. I just moved here and I haven't made any pals yet...so I was wondering if you would be my friend?" I stared at him, I've never have a friend before.

"Sure, I'll be your friend" the boy smiled.

"Great, by the way I'm Hideyoshi Nagachika But that's a mouth full so call me Hide."

"I'm Ken Kaneki" I smiled at him. That was the day I met my first friend and heard for the first time!

Life carried on for Hide and I we've been best friends ever since. Everything was great until I realized I fell in love..See the thing with love it's complicated sometimes because you don't know who you're gonna fall for or if they would accept your feelings. So I never told Hide, until today.

"Hide I love you" I just said it because I was ready for the rejection, but it never came.it took me a couple of seconds. But I realized Hide was kissing me. So I just kissed him back.

"I know. I've always known. I thought you knew that, I found out when I met you because my voice was the first thing you heard and I had a 'K' on my hand... I thought you knew we were soulmates." Hide smiled and me.

"Of course I always felt like we were but I just was scared that you were a rule breaker.. Or I thought you were straight." I looked down but Hide just grabbed my face and kissed me again.

I realized that I was living my best life and it's all thanks to Hide.
