"I can't hide this, can I?" Mason asked Sky as they neared the mansion.
"I'm afraid not," Sky responded. "And judging from your injuries, I'd say you're incapable of walking normally enough for no one to notice anything. Your face looks undamaged enough to suggest anything could be wrong with you though, so it's possible we could pass it off as me having found you unconscious."
Mason nodded, before stopping as the pain shot through him. "Right..."
"If you want to avoid the questions, lie on my back and don't move. I'll tell them you're still unconscious and I'll do all the talking," Sky suggested.
"Good idea," Mason agreed, trying to relax himself as much as possible against Sky's back. "Girls are good at talking, after all."
"You-" Sky started, but she stopped herself. Now that they were on the grounds, anyone around could hear them and she knew how uncomfortable it was to be in his position, so she let him keep up his unconsciousness facade. With a huff of resolve, she remained silent.
What was meant to be her usual stiff greeting almost immediately turned into a panicked one when the few maids who were still milling about noticed the unconscious Mason on her back. As the two had agreed, he remained unmoving the whole time.
After assuring the maids that he was indeed still alive and telling them to bring up a variety of medicines for whatever might be wrong with him, she told them she was going to lay him in his bed to let him rest. After rushed orders and agreements, Sky carried Mason up and into his room before placing him on his bed and under his blanket.
"Stay still. They'll be here any minute," she whispered with her head lowered beside his.
He didn't reply and for a moment she thought he'd actually fallen asleep, but she saw him nod slightly once when she pulled back her head.
Sky waited in front of his room to give him a bit of peace so the maids wouldn't bother him. Taking out her phone, she scanned through a few of her social media apps as she waited for them to arrive.
Within minutes, they did, their arms full of many medicines – for colds, fevers, and, most importantly in this case, injuries.
"Are you sure we shouldn't take him to the hospital?" one maid asked as they followed Sky into Mason's room and placed the medicines on his sofa.
"I don't think so, but we'll know for sure after having a look at him. Ah, just- I'll do that," Sky stopped them as they made their way towards his bed. "You can leave now."
"But, Miss Sky," one of them started, turning to look at her with a perplexed expression. "Surely it would be more appropriate for us to see what's wrong with him?
"Yes, but I'm the one he probably knows the best out of everyone here. If I were him, I'd want the person closest to me to figure out what was wrong with me while I'm unconscious." Sky was relatively happy with her reasoning.
"Um, well, I wish you no offense," the other maid said shyly. "But we all thought you two didn't really get on all that well."
"And you girls spend a lot of time with him?" Sky asked, eyebrows raised.
The two maids ended up blushing a little bit, and she could see that Mason's face behind them turned a little red as well. "Of course not, Miss Sky. We'll excuse ourselves."
"But we must insist that the door remains open, Miss Sky. It's not proper for you to be in a closed room with a young man," the other maid said, avoiding eye contact with her young mistress.
Sky couldn't help but chuckle a little bit at that. "Is that because you're afraid I'll jump his unconscious bones or that his unconscious bones will jump me? Because I can tell you either of those choices is highly unlikely."
