"No," Mason immediately rejected the idea of one of the maids in the entrance hall; the chauffeur had currently taken it upon himself to carry Sky up to her room which left Mason to sort out what the maids should do and reassure them everything was fine. "Cold water will only make it worse; her cold body will want to warm up which will make her shiver and only worsen her condition." As the chauffeur ascended the stairs, he sent a few of the maids up with him to get Sky out of her dress.

He decided that instead of standing around doing nothing, he'd change out of his suit, and by the time he got to Sky's room the maids had changed Sky into sleepwear and put her under her blanket.

"Do we have a cold compress or anything like that?" he asked one of the maids that was still in the room.

"We can get facecloths with a bucket of ice cold water," the maid compromised.

Mason nodded. "Please do."

As the maid hurried off, Mason spoke to the few others who were still in the room. "Don't worry about the rest; I'll handle it from here." As the maids gave each other uncertain glances, he spoke again. "It's fine, really. I know it's late."

Nodding and bidding Mason a farewell, the rest of the maids left too, briefly before the first maid returned with the water and cloths. Thanking her, he said the same to her and he was momentarily left alone with Sky once she'd left.

Lisette walked in just as Mason was placing the first cold facecloth on Sky's forehead, but was silent enough upon her entry that Mason jumped in surprise when he turned to find her standing there.

"Gee—You scared me, Lisette," Mason said quietly, placing a hand over his heart. "Could you not have announced your presence at least?"

Lisette said nothing as she walked closer to have a look at Sky. "How is she?" she asked him.

"Very hot," Mason responded. It wasn't until Lisette turned to him with eyebrows raised that he realised what he'd said; he blushed. "You know what I mean."

"You don't think she needs to go to the hospital?" she asked then as she turned back to look at Sky who seemed to be breathing quite heavily.

"If it doesn't get better," he agreed. "For now it still seems to be in our power."

"Has she woken up yet?"

What was with the 50 questions? "Not yet."

Lisette nodded. "You can go to sleep. I'll watch over her."

Mason frowned. "It's fine, I'll do it; you have to be up early for work. It's Sunday tomorrow so I don't have school."

Lisette also frowned as she turned to look at him. For a moment it looked like she wanted to say something else but she decided against it. "You're sure?" was all she said instead.

"Positive," Mason nodded. "Sleep well."

"Thanks. Call me if you need anything; I'll keep my phone off silent," Lisette said as she gave him a small smile. "Also, I know I can trust you not to do anything so I'm going to close Sky's door so the room is a bit quieter." She gave him a pointed look then. "Don't let me down."

Mason raised his eyebrows. "I wouldn't break your trust like that. Is that what you think of me?"

She punched him lightly in the arm. "Good night, Mason."

"Good night," Mason chuckled as she left, closing the door behind her like she said she would.

Immediately, Mason turned to look back at Sky, who still seemed to be struggling. Sitting on the seat beside her bed, he realised he already had to recool the facecloth, so he did.
