Mason wasn't one for parties, and he definitely was not a fan of celebrating the New Year.

Although he trusted Dean, Mason felt incredibly uncomfortable and out of place in this house party which he had invited them to; it felt like every second person could knock him out cold with a single punch if he made a single wrong move.

To make matters worse, Sky had decided this was the perfect opportunity to get drunk for the first time since she'd turned 18, so Mason, who was still underage, was stuck by himself like a stiff piece of board against a wall.

How had he been dragged into this?

Mason bristled as a couple crashed hard into the wall next to him, their tongues down each other's throat in a flurry of lust. He tried his hardest not to pull a face of disgust as he made to leave, but was surprised to find his way blocked by Sky who had just returned, and who was watching the couple with a curious interest.

"Mason, what are they doing?" she asked him, tilting her head to the side a bit like a dog who holds curiosity for something.

"They, ah—They're kissing," he said awkwardly as he tried to steer himself and Sky away from the couple that were now against the wall behind him.

"But—I just thought that kisses were light. Like a—" she used her hands to demonstrate what she meant – holding her one palm vertically between their faces and using the fingers on her other hand to lightly tap her palm. "Like that," she said as though that explained everything, dropping her hands back down at her sides as she shot Mason a confused look.

He couldn't believe he was having this conversation with Sky. "Sky, there are different kinds of kisses," he responded, his cheeks flushing slightly as he averted his eyes. "What they were doing was a more experienced kind of kiss; what you're describing is more a..." he paused momentarily as he looked for the right words. "A first, simple kiss."

Sky was focused on him with an honest and fervent curiosity. "Different kisses, ok... Can you show me?"

"I—What?" he asked, a bit taken aback by her words. "You want me to show you?"

"Yeah," she said innocently, bringing her hands back up into the previous positions between their faces and repeating her previous motion. "So this is a simple kiss. What's the next one?"

Mason swallowed hard. "Sky, it's kind of hard to explain it to you with only hand movements," he said, averting his eyes after he found himself staring at her lips. Had he been drinking alcohol? He discreetly smelled the contents of his glass.

Nope, definitely lemonade.

Was it the atmosphere? He looked around at the many couples who were in different stages of lust and passion.

Yes, definitely the atmosphere.

He looked back at Sky who seemed to be deep in thought. "So how can you explain it to me then?" she asked.

Mason let out a quiet sigh to calm himself down. "It's not really something you explain. Apparently it just... Comes to you?" he tried to explain – badly.

She clapped her hands together in a moment of realisation then – causing him to jump and also surprising a few others around them. "That's right. You haven't kissed anyone yet either, have you?" she asked, albeit it more in general than him directly. "I should be asking Dean here; you won't be any help whatsoever."

Without waiting for a response from Mason, Sky left him alone once more, clearly using her fighting training to her advantage as she effortlessly weaved between all the bodies, not even giving Mason the opportunity to follow.
