Sky made an unearthly noise as she awoke that morning before she groaned in pain, holding her hands to her head. "Urgh, my head..."
"I see you're finally awake," a voice said beside her bed, and she opened her eyes little to see Mason sitting there.
"What are you doing here?" she mumbled.
He shrugged. "I thought I'd keep an eye on you. And don't worry – the door is open."
Sky sighed as she slowly sat upright. "So what happened last night?" she asked after a moment.
Mason felt his heart drop a bit. "You don't remember?" he asked.
"No..." Sky mumbled as she once again put a hand to her head. "Please tell me you have aspirin."
Mason nodded, grabbing an aspirin and a glass of water from her bedside table and handing it to her. "So you really remember nothing?" he asked after she'd thanked him.
"Well, the last thing I remember is us arriving at the house really," Sky frowned, answering after she swallowed the aspirin with a bit of water. "I feel like we had a good time though. Did we?"
Mason rubbed the back of his head. "I guess? I think you definitely had more fun than I did though."
Sky widened her eyes. "Why? What happened?"
He gave her a sarcastic look. "Don't you think that you lying here with a hangover while I'm not suffering is self-explanatory?"
Sky realised what he was getting at and immediately felt a bit guilty. "You mean you—I—" She put her head in her hands. "I'm so sorry. I left you by yourself all night, didn't I?"
Mason couldn't help but chuckle a little as he stood up with her now-empty glass in hand. "Well, not the entire time. You did come and find me every now and then."
Sky looked up at him as he got to his feet. "Where are you going? I'm really sorry."
Mason smiled. "I'm afraid no amount of sorrys will be enough to fill up this glass up again with water," he joked, lifting the glass up a bit for her to see. "I'll be back in a minute."
Sky nodded and Mason couldn't help but notice that she bit her lower lip nervously. "Ok."
Nodding a bit awkwardly, he then left and proceeded to fill up the cup with water in the nearby bathroom, before he was interrupted on his way back to Sky's room.
"Mason," Lisette called his name from behind him.
"Hey, Lisette," Mason responded, and he stopped walking and turned to face her as he waited for her to get closer.
Lisette took the last few steps to reach Mason before she spoke in more hushed tones considering their proximity to Sky's room. "Has she woken up yet?" Mason nodded and Lisette continued. "And does she remember? Anything?"
Mason shook his head, momentarily staring into the depths of the water-filled glass.
Lisette rubbed her forehead as she looked down at the floor. "Why does that not surprise me? It's just like her." Lisette sighed as she looked up at Mason. "Are you going to tell her she kissed you or not?"
Mason shifted anxiously on his feet, not sure how comfortable he felt talking to Lisette about this subject. "I don't know whether or not that would be a good idea."
"Why not? Because of her parents?" Lisette retorted, catching herself as her voice got a bit louder. She spoke her next words quieter. "Forget about her parents and everything else. Think about Sky and how it—how she makes you feel," Lisette gave him a harsh stare. "Unfortunately stuff like this isn't taught in text books so you're going to have to try and figure it out yourself."
