Austin's POV

We sat at the Curtis house for hours. We talked and laughed, just enjoying spendnig time together getting to know eachother.

"Hey guys dinner is ready." Darry said before walking back into the kitchen. Oh great. I have to go through this again. And this time Dallas is here. Oh well, they're going to have to get used to me not eating. They all got up and walked to the kitchen. I stayed seated on the couch. No one noticed at first until Pony grabbed my arm and started to drag me to the kitchen like he did last night.

"Ponyboy! I'm not hungry." I told him. He turned to me.

"No. You're eating weather you're hungry or not. You haven't eaten today and I have a feeling you didn't eat anything yesterday before you showed up. Which means you haven't eaten in almost two days, maybe even more. You're literally the skinniest person I know. You need some meat on you." he argued. By now everyone was at the table eaitng and watching.

"I told you Pony, I'll eat when I'm hugry, and when I'm hungry I'll tell you. Just let me be." I told him getting annoyed. Before anyone could say anything else he was pulling me into his room.

"What now?" I asked.

"Ok, what is your deel. Not eating and apparently never being hungry. Come on. I'm not stupid. Why don't you eat?" he asked.

"Look I really don't want to talk about it ok? It's not a big deel." I told him.

"Not a big deal? No this is a big deal. Why are you starving yourself? If you don't eat, something is going to happen. I'm just worried." he said in a concerned tone.

"Look I apreciate you being worried about me, but seriously, nothing is wrong. I'm fine. Now plese just go back and eat with your family." I said.

"No. I'm not going anywhere until you tell me why you won't eat. I can do this all night." Ugh he won't give up. I'm glad that he cares about me and doesn't want anything bad happeing to me, but this is starting to get annoying. I guess I can tell him.

"Fine. But not here. Can we go on a walk?" I asked.

"Why can't you just tell me here?" he asked. I steppped towards the door and punched it. We heard shuffleing and someone fall.

"It's not right to eavesdrop!" I yell through the door. We heard footsteps walk away.

"Ok then." Pony said while grabbing my hand.

"Where are we going?"

"Out the window. The guys aren't going to let us go on a walk this late." he said while opening the window.

"Won't we get cought? They'll start to wonder what we're doing up here for so long." I said.

"Nah they'll know where we were. They heard you ask to leave. But if we did ask them, they'd say no." he exlained. It's kind of weird but I understand it. He climbed out the window first. Looks like he's done this before. I jump down and then we're off.

The walk is silent at first. We were now at the park. No one was there. Probably because it was late at night. I sat down on a bench and then Pony sat next to me.

"So talk. I'm listening. Why don't you eat?" he said breaking the silence. I sighed.

"I had a bad experience with bullies growing up. They'd call me ugly, fat, stupid, trash, pointless. Just everything they possibly could. I knew I wasn't fat, but it got to my head. I've gotten so used to eating so little that I go days without food. I've learned to control my cravings. I feel like if I start to eat more again, I'll not want to stop. The first impression you get from people matters. It determins how they're going to treat you as a person."I told him. I never told anyone who asked me. Not even Ashley. I just told her and Jessie that it was because I didn't want to be fat. It wasn't a lie, just wasn't the whole truth. Pony grabbed my hand and lookd me in the eyes.

"You're beautiful. And those bullies were lonely idiots that don't deserve your time."he told me. I had a small smile on my face. This is why I'm falling for Ponyboy Curtis. Because he's kind and loving and knows how to fix everything. I couldn't have asked for a better friend.

"Thanks Pony. I really needed that." I told him as I got up. I stuck out my hand. He grabbed and stood up. Then we were on our way back tot he Curtis house.
