Austin's POV
"Wake up, bitch!" something was thrown at my head. I was in a very peaceful sleep after a long day with the gang and Ashley and Jessie.
"I will kill someone again." I said knowing it was Ashley. I was in a situation where I felt comfortable enough to joke about everything in some situations. I wouldn't say a joke about the pregnant thing or anything too gruesome though. These jokes weren't used all the time, but every now and then it would get brought up and left there, no one ever made a big deal about it. I guess they all figured this would make me feel a little bit better, which it did.
"How can you do that if you're in bed?" she remarked making me groan and roll my eyes.
"What do you want, so I can go back to sleep?" I said shoving my head back into my pillow as she opened my curtains and let in unwanted light.
"You need to get up, we're having a girls day. So no going back to sleep, and I don't want to hear a peep of complaint from you because this is one of my last days seeing you until Horseman's birthday." she pointed a stern finger at me. She'd started calling Ponyboy, Horseman, just to be fun. Sometimes she says it to his face, but he doesn't seem to mind or care. Probably because he knows she's just being playful.
"How about we bond in bed?" I asked closing my eyes again.
"Rooting for the other team are we now, babe?" she joked.
"There are some things I like to keep to myself." I joked and shrugged my shoulders with a laugh.
"And I thought I was your best friend." she puffed playfully making us both bust out in a fit of laughter.
"Ok, fine, we don't have to cuddle, but you can pick my outfit out while I go pee." I said rolling out of bed tiredly onto the floor then getting up.
"Go peepee like a big girl." she teased in a baby voice.
"Fuck off." I laughed walking into the bathroom.
I closed the door behind me before looking to the mirror to take in my appearance. My hair was a slight mess from sleeping but it could be worse. The bruises on my face had faded pretty well and there were just a few places that still had that yellow tint. And the bags under my eyes had subsided because I'd finally gotten a good amount of sleep. This is probably the best I've looked all week.
After taking care of my business, I flushed the toilet and washed my hands. When I stepped back into my room I could see Ashely still contemplating on a bra to give me.
"Why do you take the longest to pick out the clothing no one is going to see?" I asked making her jump slightly scaring her.
"It doesn't matter who sees it. A girl can feel powerful when she chooses the right bra because even if no one knows, she still knows she looks hot as hell. Feel good for yourself, not other people." she rolled her eyes before sitting down my black lace bra on the stack on clothes she'd picked.
"Yeah well, a bra isn't going to make me confidant." I told her as I pulled off my shirt to get dressed.
"It will if you let it." she sassed pointing a finger at me before sitting down on my bed.
"So what do you have in mind for today?" I asked as I slipped jeans up my legs.
"I was thinking we go shopping for a while. Then we could go eat somewhere. And now that I'm realizing what your hair looks like, I think we should maybe fix it." she said laughing a little. I forgot that she's the one to always cut and color my hair. The blue ends I had were very faded and almost looked like I was in a chlorine pool for too long.
