Dallas's POV
"I'm sorry, man." Darry sighed through the phone.
"It's not your fault, at most, mine. But, tell Pony to head over now. Just say she's home, he'll come running." I said scratching the back of my neck.
"Will do." he said before hanging up.
I'd woken up only an hour ago to see that Austin was still sleeping. As carefully as I could, I got up to get ready before Pony got here. It was almost noon anyways. Once I was dressed, I called Darry and explained things to him and told him to tell Pony to come over. This leads me to now; in the kitchen cooking some breakfast. Not even ten minutes later Pony busted through the door panting.
"Just on time, brings this up to her will ya? She's still sleepin so don't go barging in there." I said placing the plait on the counter.
"Sleeping? When she'd get home?" he asked raising an eyebrow still regaining his breath.
"Yesterday afternoon. Came home, ate, went to bed." I said leaving a few details out.
"Thought you said you needed a few more days to get the money?" he questioned leaning against the counter grabbing the plate.
"I did, but Ashley and her parents bailed her out, then called me to come get her. Didn't tell me they were going to do that, when I got there it was too late. Now if you don't mind, will you go give my sister some hot food." I remarked. This kid asks too many questions. He nodded his head walking towards the stairs.
"Hey, Horseman!" I said to catch his attention making him turn back to me.
"Be careful with her, do what she asks. And if I see she's crying 'cause something you did, I'll beat the tar outta ya." I said sternly making him nod his head before turning around to jog up the steps.
God do I pray this goes well.
Ponyboy's POV
I was nervous walking up the stairs. Why was Dallas taking this so seriously? Obviously, there's nothing more than the fact she was accused of hurting that soc. Right?
I made it into her room quietly without waking her up and placed the food on her bedside table. I sat down softly on the side of her bed not waking her up still. She looked beautiful. She always looks beautiful. But, it's relieving seeing her so relaxed.
I gently placed my hand on her upper arm softly rubbing it up and down. Her skin was soft under my touch, and I couldn't ignore the tingles that took over my body. Tingles. They appeared every time I saw her at a sudden angle that left me breathless, or when our hands would brush past another, or the softness of her lips pressed against mine when we kissed. Tingles didn't go away when it came to my love for Austin. My love is only for Austin.
"C'mon, babygirl, time to wake up." I whispered softly bringing my hand to gently caress her cheekbone. She let out a soft yawn and stretched out grabbing my hand and bringing it to her face to press on a light kiss.
"G'morning, beautiful." I smiled leaning down to press a kiss to her hairline.
"Morning." she yawned again sitting up.
"Dal made you breakfast, so dig in before it gets cold." I said grabbing the plate off her nightstand.
"Looks good, but I'm still kinda full from last night, might need some help finishing." she smiled up at me taking the plate into her lap.
"We'll see how much you eat before I go stealing any food." she needed as much as she could get. Even if she's getting better, her appetite still isn't ideal, but it's improving. Which is all I could ask for.
