Austin's POV
I woke up to a warm sensation lingering on my face, only to open my eyes and see the curtain open above my bead. I yawned and stretched before looking at the clock and seeing it's 9 in the morning. It's not too late, Pony's definitely awake, I could head to his house and we could hang out today. Oh. That stupid promise I made about being distant till he changed his mind about the rumble. I mean it's not stupid, just something I'm not looking forward to. But, they all really need to learn that I'm fighting weather they like it or not, even if they don't let me, I'll find a way.
I decided to get up and dressed to start the day, maybe go for a walk or something. I started rummaging through my clothes looking for something to wear. I finally found a pair of white, ripped, skinny jeans, a white muscle T, and my red leather jacket that Ashley got me for one of my birthdays. I started thinking about how I haven't called or written anything to her. I started to rummage through my bag looking for a piece of paper that I had with her house number on it. I finally found it and ran downstairs to the pay phone. After actually finding money I dialed the number.
"Hello?" I heard her mother answer.
"Hi Mrs. Dunn! It's Austin, I was just calling to see how you guys are doing. Is Ash home?" I smile.
"Oh, Austin! How are you doing darling? Ashley's upstairs getting ready for a date."
"I'm doing good actually. Is there a way I could talk to Ash?" I always enjoyed speaking with her mom, she was always there for me when I needed a mom. She was always so happy and cheerful.
"Absolutely sweaty! Let me tell her to pick up the phone."
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Dunn. It was nice talking to you again!"
"Of course dear. Anytime. Nice speaking with you as well. Ashley will answer in just a minute." As if on que, Ashley was on.
"Austin! Oh my god! I missed yooouuuuu!" I heard her screech through the phone. Yep. that's my best friend.
"Hello to you too Ash." I laughed, "your mom tells me that you are getting ready for a date. Is it with the boyfriend? Hmmm..." I tease. Obviously it would be, she's not the type to cheat.
"Well actually Kevin and I broke up, so umm, no. This is just a date." she hesitated.
"Ok, then who is it? I can tell you're nervous. You know you can tell me anything, right? I mean I would be more nervous for this guy because if he does something and breaks your heart, I will personally run all the way back to New York and beat the shit out of him." I laughed.
"Ok, just don't get mad, please?" I only hum in response. "Ok, umm I'm going on a date with Jessie." she breathed out. It really didn't effect me, sure it hurt a little to know he's moving on se quickly, but I am with Pony, and I did get over him just as quick. Also I did tell him to make sure Ash stayed happy at any cost, including dating her.
"I'm happy for you, honestly. I'm in a relationship, actually, and I'm really happy. Plus, I told Jessie to stick with you, and I think this is good for both of you." I smile, even though she can't see me.
"Oh thanks god, I thought you'd be mad or sad or something. And I'm glad you have a boyfriend. What's his name? What does he look like? How'd you meet? How old is he? How long have you guys been together?" she babbled. I only laughed.
"Ok, ok, shut up so I can answer some questions will you? His name is Ponyboy. He's taller than me, but not by much. He's not like overly buff, but he has a good amount of muscles. He's 14, almost 15. And he's actually in Dally's gang. And we've been together for a few days now." I explained.
