JORDAN
Giselle and I had time to look at future houses once we decided out trial run either gave us a reason to continue living together or give it more time, before I had to meet shawn so he could pick out a wedding band for Scottie. But unbeknownst to him and Giselle I was going to use that opportunity to shop around for engagement rings. Aside from the house and the ring I had something important to discuss with Giselle especially regarding our move.
"So baby is there a reason why we're in Alpharetta instead of Buckhead? I thought you liked it there."
"Actually! Gee I've been meaning to talk to you about something." Her expression seemed worried as to what I would say.
"I promise babe it's not bad. Or at least I don't think it is." She let out a sigh of relief but was still somewhat guarded." I've been working on getting my on pediatrics center. " Giselle's face lit up at my words. Her seemingly happy expression eased my anxiety. "Baby that's amazing why haven't you told me? This is great news.""I was nervous about what you would say, I'm sorry babe. But I found a location and if we decide to move in together in a new place I would like to be close by it."
"Well let's look and see. If we find something I'm so fine with moving here. Its thirty minutes away from the girls and my stores but JT can probably manage the Cumberland location and Chloe can take the new one. Either way wherever you are is where I want to be babe. This is big."
Giselle's words had me so overjoyed I could barely focus on the GPS telling me where to go to find the house we came to look at. After getting back on track we finally found it.
Giselle immediately seemed impressed with the house as we got out the car. Just as we approached the front door Jack our realtor came out." Hey guys you made it. Jordan I know you're crunched for time so I will make it quick." We followed behind him inside the beautiful home. Giselle wore a smile on her face as jack explained the features of the house. It was beautiful house in a secluded neighborhood that sat on the lake. Something that reminded Giselle of her home at the Howard plantation." So what do you think baby? Do you like it?" I searched her face for an answer. "Babe I love it so much. It's like my dream home." As we were conversing with Jack, Shawn pulled up in his Black Camaro drop top."Doctor J we got things to do playa!" He said as I approached him in the car to give him dap. Giselle came behind me and gave him a hug and a friendly kiss on the cheek, the ones that don't actually touch your face. " Hey baby! I got to go handle this with shawn and I'll be home later. We can discuss the house when I get back."
Giselle nodded her head before giving me a hug and kiss. Soon we were off to look at rings. We pulled up to the Ritz-Carlton downtown and headed up to a suite on the fifth floor. A woman answer's the door and gives Shawn a hug as if they already knew each other. She introduced herself to me as Lorraine Schwartz the famous jeweler. Shawn was one of the top Sports Agents in Atlanta so he definitely had pull to get a Jeweler with her credentials like the Kardashians. Shawn is the person getting Devyn his deal with the Hawks.
Lorraine opens up a black case and sets it on the coffee table in her suite. It was full of the most luxurious diamond wedding bands ever. The shine from the one box alone could light up the night sky. Of course shawn chose the most expensive band in the box but hey! He was good for it.
"I don't suppose you have any cheaper engagement rings!?"I asked jokingly
"Hold up! You proposing to Gee!? Bro! That's great." Shawn said as ve wore a big smile and he perked up in his seat.
"Eventually! Yeah. But your taste is too rich for my blood."
"Forget that you know I got you! Lorraine pull out something nice for my family."
"I can't let you do that. You do enough for me it's cool." Shawn looked at me pointedly as if to say I wasn't getting out of this. Lorraine brought out another case with engagement rings and I searched the case to look for the perfect one. That's when I set my eyes on the most beautiful ring. It was the kind of ring girl's dream of. As Lorraine held it in her hand I could picture it on Giselle's finger.
"How much is it?" I asked but not really wanting to hear the price. Lorraine raised her eyebrows and smirked. " That ring cost $750,000. But if she's as great of a girl as she seems,It's worth it." My heart literally fell to my ass."He'll take it!!!" Shawn interjected before I could protest. " Shawn No! I can't let you do that first the house now this." Shawn was the one who gave me money for my house. I was damn near homeless trying to put myself through school and at the time struggling to figure out how to take care of a girlfriend, a baby and myself. When I got the job at the hospital he matched what I had saved up when I started working plus interest. "Shawn it's too much!"
"Fuck that! I was a drug dealer before this shit. I'm supposed be in prison right now but because of a certain someone's statement when we were fifteen years old I'm here right now. So like I said he'll take it. "
"Jordan you're more than my cousin. Your my brother. You want to pay me back? Then do everything you always dreamed of since we were kids which is Open your business. And marry the of your dreams who in my heart I know is Giselle."
"I promise I will." Back in the day Shawn got in some trouble with the police after drugs were found on him when we were stopped after a party. He already had former charges so any petty crime would have him serving years of his life in prison. So I told the cops once we got to the station it was mine. Because of my grade point average and the fact that I was never in trouble I wound up getting probation. From that point Shawn vowed he'd always take care of me no matter what.
"Alright Gentlemen how we paying?"
"Cash! I do not want the future misses looking at the bank statements thinking we cutting into her wedding funds. She'd cut my balls and Strangle him with'em."
I searched Shawn's face to see that he was joking, but he was dead serious. And knowing how crazy women get over their wedding day. Especially when they become bridezillas I no longer doubted him. As Lorraine packaged our rings, I pictured how happy Giselle was when she saw the house and how happy she's going to be when she see's this ring. And then it dawned on me. I was the luckiest man in the world. And nothing is going to ruin that.
