Thirty-Five

Today was the big day. My best friend was marrying the love of her life and It was also New Year's eve. The girls and I were up extremely early so we could first enjoy a nice breakfast with Auntie Sonya. Then we would get manicures and pedicures,  JT and Chloe would slay our hair and makeup afterwards. Scottie and her mom had been pleasant with one another all morning. I think the realization that Mommy's little girl isn't little anymore has set in, Or mama caught wind of how her friend had been acting and given her a swift kick in the ass.

Hours later we arrived at the ceremony. Scottie's theme was an enchanted Forrest and it was beautiful. She loved all of the Disney princess movies and often referred to Shawn as her black prince charming, so it was definitely befitting.

The tent that we were in to get ready was secluded from the guest who were arriving so I stepped out to get a glimpse of everyone coming in.  I noticed my parents and brother were talking to someone. As I moved closer to see who it was almost as if in slow motion Jordan turned and met my eyes with his. He looked so handsome in his tux and the sexy dimples he displayed as he smiled at me was enough to make any woman swoon. My family noticed me  too by following Jordan's gaze. My mother mouthed "You look so beautiful " from afar. My father blew a kiss in my direction. My phone dinged in my hand. It was a text from Devyn.

"You look so beautiful sis!"

"Thank You Baby brother😘"

"You still a scrub tho😂"

Uh! What an ass. I looked up from my phone at my aggy little brother and flipped him off before heading back inside the tent.   As I came inside I was stopped in my tracks by the beautiful sight of Scottie in her dress.

"Awww best friend you look beau-" I paused trying to stop the water works from coming.

"Giselle please don't cry. I'm really trying to hold it together myself looking at how gorgeous you are. We can't be two crying messes. " She joked making us both laugh.

"And look at these two beautiful goddesses looking like nymphs." I said as JT and Chloe emerged from the makeup chairs.

"OMG! Scottie you look so damn good bitch! If I wasn't such a heartless bitch I'd cry."

"Jatavia you a mess, but thank you baby! And thank you Chloe for the beat."

"It didn't take much for Queen CoCo to beat that face girl. God and your parents did most of the work I just enhanced it. But you're welcome girl."

As we were practically drooling over how good we all looked especially soon to be Mrs. Scottie Michaels, Nathan comes in our tent wearing his very loud sequence suit jacket looking a hotmess.

"Alright ladies here are your handsome escorts."

Nathan moves to the side and beckons for the fellas to come in looking handsome as ever in their Tom Ford suits. Apparently they all appreciated our look as they each uttered the word.....

"Damn!"

"Daaaamn!"

But Terrence being a complete fool had to be extra as his comment was....

"Daaamn! Thank God for y'all mama's cause all of yall fine...Shit!"

Next thing you know Jordan pops him on the back of his head causing all of us to bust out laughing. He was always saying something crazy since I've known him over the course of Scottie and Shawn's relationship.

"Aye!! With them soft ass baby hands you need to be wearing one of them dresses!"

"Aye! Man.....Fuck you bruh! My girl love my hands don't you bae!?" Jordan joked

"Yes! I love them sexy ass hands" I commented.

"Alright girls you're all pretty.....Places people!"

As we lined up with our escorts we heard the music play. I turned back to look at Scottie who by the look on her face already knew who the surprise guest singer was. It was Monica singing Angel of Mine. Their first date was a Monica concert and shawn got her to dedicate this song to Scottie because it was her favorite by her.

As everyone had started to walk out of the tent, I noticed Scottie wasn't looking as confident as she was before. I paused Jordan who was about to walk out so I could check on her.

"Giselle I can't do this! I can't walk out alone please come with me."

"Awww best friend everything is going to be okay. Just breathe it's just nerves."

"You want me to walk with her!" Jordan interrupted.

"It'll throw everything off and Shawn might worry......Hold on!"

I quickly sent a text before reassuring her she was just having a nervous spell. Jordan and I managed to get out of the tent quick enough for anyone to notice the delay going on with Scottie. As he and I reached the audience he stared into my eyes deeply and mouthed I love you. He and I were all smiles walking down the aisle catching oohs and awes from our family. We took our places standing on our designated sides. Moments later Scottie appeared looking like a Disney Princess and Happily escorting her down the aisle was none other than Devyn. One of the things Scottie and her mother were fighting over yesterday morning was that Scottie wanted her to walk her down the aisle, but her mother wanted her own moment. And me knowing her best I knew the perfect man for the Job. There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd as she cascaded down the aisle. Jordan squeezed Shawn's shoulders as tears ran down his cheek. I even patted his hand as he was so overwhelmed with happiness and joy. As one last sign of his undying love for his crush, Devyn gives Scottie a kiss on the cheek before sticking his tongue out at Shawn and laughing. Shawn rolled his eyes playfully before pulling Devyn into a hug. Devyn quickly returns to his seat. Auntie Sonya stands by waiting on her moment as the preacher asks.....

"Who gives this woman to this man?"

And she proudly says "I do!" And the ceremony is underway.
