August 1, 2018 to August 7, 2018 - Round 1 of The Poetry Gauntlet
"Write a poetic prophecy in the Biblical Poetry form"
_____________________________________________
When man surrenders reason to gold,
And all emotion is made slave to coin.
The flesh is pleasure and nothing more,
Duty and law succumb to material desire.
The Earth is ravaged by Man's hunger,
And the land dried by his insatiable thirst.
From troubled waters shall a babe rise,
On wings of virtue, the child shall soar.
Dark of skin and bright of soul,
The strength of faith shall light the path.
Arms of righteousness, holding the sword of truth,
Shall hack away the limbs of deceit and lies.
Crowned as the Monarch of directions nine,
For all paths converge at the centre.
Set forth the rules of justice and right,
Uphold the laws of duty and Dharma.
Usher in the age of peace and harmony,
Thus would commence the era of truth.
