Intrigue and secrecy; when they tangle,
they set the dance floor on fire;
Yearning and passion; when they connect,
they set the prudent mind on fire.
Desperate questions find blank answers,
they set rational thought on fire
Masked desires clash with cloaked intentions,
they set the translucent veil on fire;
As pursuit perseveres and stealth struggles,
reluctance is set on fire;
Surreptitiousness surrenders to ardent ardor,
resistance is set on fire.
Caressing fingers leave lingering touches,
setting heated skin on fire;
Expectant eyes meet longing lips,
blazing tingles that set the body on fire.
When buried secrets are finally unearthed,
the revelation sets the mask on fire;
And when, at last, two happy hearts meet,
their love sets their souls on fire.

A/N - I had originally written four lines of the above poem (???) as a comment to an update of a story by one of my dear friends, to whom I dedicate this poem.
In a rumbunctious mood (without the influence of any alcohol induced haze), which at times seizes me, I laboured under a delusion that those lines were worthy of being made into a full fledged poem. The above free verse is the result of such a delusion.
Her story,UNMASKED (external link given below), on the other hand, promises to be a heady concoction of mystery and romance, one which is not to be missed despite the above.
