"Write a dirge for a monster's friend / wife, one that would make them cry, in the Dirge -Poetry form"

Close his eyes; let him sleep in rest.

He with eyes of ruby that once burned bright,

Now so dull and without the determined fight,

Listless and weary, limp are those sinews of might.

Lay him down gently; let him sleep in rest.

Frightening to behold but gentle in heart,

Monster under the bed, he played his part,

Scaring little children, he was the perfect boggart.

Release him into the night; let him sleep in rest.

None the more shall the land shake with his tread,

No more haunting together, no hiding under a bed,

Gone forever, his life is now just a story to be read.

Set him free to the winds; let him sleep in rest.

It is so hard to say goodbye, but this is the end,

Just memories are the times, which we did spend

I shall miss you, kind fiend  and dear friend.

Unleash his spirit to the shadows deep; let him sleep in rest,

The days would be darker without you, but the nights are darkest

Whilst I wander these lands, alone and friendless in my quest

Till I join you in shadows deep, I shall let you sleep in rest.
