later that night, christina and rylee made their way back to the hotel, talking about their days as they cleaned up and got ready to just relax and for bed.
"you know," christina began, wiping a makeup wipe across her face. "you and jack would be cute together." she says, looking at rylee through the mirror to see her reaction.
rylee blushes slightly before shaking her head. "we're just friends," she replies.
"for now." christina tells her, speaking in somewhat of a singing way.
rylee sighed, rolling her eyes. "you're annoying." she mumbled, laughing.
"oh shut up, you love me!" christina exclaimed.
the night went on, rylee found herself texting jack in the late hours of the night. christina was already asleep, but rylee just couldn't.
rylees phone buzzed and she looked down to see jack had replied.
facetime?
rylee smiled, beginning to type a reply.
christina's sleeping :(
a few moments later, he replied.
go on the balcony
duhrylee chuckled a little, her fingers typing away once again.
how'd you know we even have a balcony?
what hotel doesn't have a balcony?
she smiled but before she had a chance to reply, she received an incoming facetime call.
she quickly threw on her hoodie, almost knocking her glasses off in the process and quickly answering, making her way outside.
"love the look. although i don't think it's so cold to where you need your hood on." jack joked.
rylee smiled, rolling her eyes, keeping her hood on her head. "it's actually pretty chilly. probably the breeze i don't know. leave me alone." she pouted.
"okay okay, sorry." jack said, laughing.
rylee smiled at the sight of him laughing, watching how the corners of his eyes somewhat lifted and his head tilted back.
"you're really cute." she said, not exactly thinking much but widening her eyes once it was said.
on the other side, jacks cheeks somewhat heated up and a pink tint rose to the skin as he smiled.
"thank you.. so are you." he said, looking at her smile through the screen. "well, i think beautiful would be a better adjective but.." he trailed licking his lips and looking to the side as he smiled.
rylee shook her head, knowing she's blushing hardcore at the moment. "thank you." she mumbled, playing with the strings on her hoodie.
the two began talking about random topics, each one having something to say and always with something to keep the conversation going.
about an hour into the call, she could tell jack was exhausted and could fall asleep any second.
"you should get some rest." she spoke softly, feeling something in her heart as she looked at the sleepy boy.
yawning, he shook his head. "i'm okay, i'm awake." he mumbled, slurring due to his tiredness.
rylee let out a little laugh. "jack, i can tell you're exhausted. go to sleep and i'll talk to you tomorrow." she replied, giving him a smile.
"how are you not tired?" he questioned, yawning again as he cuddled more into the pillow.
rylee shrugged, looking at the time. 4:27 am.
"i'm not sure. i stay up pretty late most nights, i have trouble sleeping." she explained.jack nodded, as well as he could while his head was against the pillow. "well i'm not going to sleep until you do." he said in somewhat of a whisper.
rylee laughed a little, shaking her head. "jack, you'll pass out. just go to sleep, i'll try to sleep and i'll text you tomorrow. okay?"
jack sighed but agreed. "alright, goodnight rylee."
"goodnight jack."
she smiled as the call ended, letting out a sigh of happiness. she had a strong liking for jack, they seemed to have lots in common and got along really well. it felt easy for her to talk to him as if she knew he would understand and as if she could trust him with anything.
she sat down, still on the balcony, looking out at the sky and all of the lights from the city. it was moments like this that were her favorite.
she played music softly so it wouldn't disrupt anyone else, just sitting, enjoying where she was at the moment and giving herself a rest.
she spent the early morning watching the sunrise and admiring how beautiful it was with the different colors.
around 10 am when christina woke up, she worried a little, not seeing rylee in her bed. looking around the room, her heart sped up as she didn't see her anywhere.
as she walked from one side to the other, she caught a glimpse of something on the balcony. moving closer she realized her bestfriend must've been up all night long because there she was, half asleep as she was curled up, watching as the day began.
