Candice was silent the rest of the way home. She settled on a pair of sunglasses for Olivia and met back up with her mom. They boarded the #41 bus and sat down. Her mom rested her head on Candice's shoulder as the bus bumped and wrestled pot holes down the street. The bus smelled of old socks and three week old mints. Granted, there was nothing but old people headed back home.

"Are you doing anything for the rest of the day?" Her mom asked. Candice sighed and looked out the window. What do you do for the rest of the day after hearing that your ex took someone out on your behalf? Candice shifted uncomfortably and twiddled her fingers.  She could still hear Oscar in the back of her head. I killed him.  She shuttered at the thought. Outside she watched some kids run down the street. She leaned her head against the cool window and prayed that their stop would be next. However, deep down inside, she knew that they were still six stops away. Bzzzzzz.

Ruby: Where are you? You know what just forget about it. You have shamed yourself and shamed Olivia. Do not be late tomorrow for the LAST rehearsal.

Candice threw her things down at the front door and flopped onto the couch; something she hasn't been able to do since Craig began living with them. Now, with him and the prophets gone she could sit where ever she pleased. Her mom busied herself in the kitchen. I should just lay here until graduation. The doorbell rung and Candice groaned getting up.

"That might be my package that I ordered!" her mom yelled. Candice jogged down the steps and when she flung the door open she felt a mix of happiness and fear. Latrelle stood with opened arms and hair in need of braiding. Behind him, however, was Craig and his gang.

"What's up sis? I'm back," Latrelle wrapped his arms around his sister and let himself in leaving Candice face to face with Craig. She rolled her eyes and began to shut the door but the door swung back open.

"You're not going to let us in? We did bail Latrelle out of juvie," he said pushing pass her. The rest of the crew did the same and resumed their place on the couch. Candice rolled her eyes and went back to her hide out upstairs. She could hear the talking floating up the stairs. Slowly, she felt an invisible bubble wrapping around her and her room trying to mute the noise.

Monse: Hey, just checking in.

Candice: Hey, everything is fine. I finally got Olivia a gift.

Monse: Nice what did you get her?

Candice: I just got her a pair of sunglasses.

Monse: I think she'll like that.

Candice: I hope so, I gotta go talk to you later.

Monse to: Candice, Ruby, Jamal

Guys! we just got rolled up on by Latrelle and I think Cesar is in trouble!

Ruby: what kind of trouble? Like a green light?

Jamal: obviously.

Candice: By Latrelle! Are you sure?

Monse: Can't mistake him with that fresh out of  juvie smell.

Candice tossed her phone down shaking. Latrelle rolled up on Monse and I'm assuming Cesar? When did he have time to do this he was just in the house laughing with mom and Craig. Speaking of Craig. Candice hopped out of bed and wandered downstairs. Was Craig still in the house and if so why? She trotted down the steps and was shocked to see that everyone had gone except her mom. She was crying on the couch.

"Are you ok mom?" Candice asked in a small child like voice. Her mom simply looked up with a pitiful and shaking smile.

"I'm alright, have you seen your brother?" she asked. Candice became angry all over again.

"No."
