Candice slowly pulled her shirt over her head and sighed. On the dresser was a straight jet black wig cut into a pixie cut. If she was going to go back out again she wanted to make herself look unrecognizable. Her grandmother was already at work and left her a couple of dollars downstairs. Candice looked at herself. Her hair was cornrowed back ready to be hidden. She shook her head and carefully placed the wig over her braids.
"I can do this," she said shakily. She grabbed her backpack from the floor and walked to the steps. Part of her was upset because she only needed to finish one class in order to graduate. She would literally be going in for two hours and that's all. But, she had to what she needed to do. Candice jogged down the stairs and grabbed her book bag before starting her trek. It was still slightly dark out although it was 6:30. Her Grandmother's house was a little farther from the school. At first, Candice was against walking in the dark but then again no one would be able to recognize her. She hoped it would be like that all day. All she wanted to do was go to her one and only class and then race home. As always, nothing seemed to go as planned.

"Candice? Oh my god I thought you were dead or something," Monse whispered flinging her arms around Candice. Candice winced as the pain from her side reminded her that it was still there.
"Nice to see you too Monse," Candice said through gritted teeth. Monse released her and took a step back. Monse had changed her hair seemed longer, her skin glowed, and she had an edge of confidence. Not like she lacked any. The door to the bathroom opened and Candice instinctively put her head down. Monse noticed and grabbed her hand.
"C'mon lets get out of here," Monse said. Candice allowed herself to be dragged down the hallway by Monse. Candice knee no one was looking at her or paying them any attention, but she still let like she was being watched. They ended up in an empty classroom where the rest of the gang sat.
"Candice is that really you?" Jamal asked.
"I told you I saw her on New Year's," Cesar said hitting Jamal's arm. Jamal rolled his eyes and raced over to hug her. Ruby gave a small smile but still remained in his seat. Candice didn't blame him.
"So, what are you guys up to?" She asked sitting down in one the chairs. The group looked around at each other.
"Well, we've come into a lot of money and are trying to figure out how to help Cesar hide," Jamal blurted out.
"Where'd you get the money?" Candice asked raising an eyebrow.
"Roller world," Ruby said. Candice nodded her head slowly. Candice pulled out her phone and glanced at the time.
"This was a nice reunion but I have to get to class," she announced. Monse pulled her into another hug before letting go.
"Text me!" Monse snapped and Candice winked. Candice walked out of the classroom and right into a hard chest.
"Sorry," she said quickly before walking away. She didn't know who she bumped into and she didn't care. Her class was creative writing and she wasn't going to miss it for anything.
