She stared at the tear stained page, unsure, feeling the crushing feeling of despair. Trying to make sense of the words neatly scrawled in front of her, she re-read the letter again memorizing every last word her sister, and most important person left her with.
"Thank you Yuzu. Goodbye "
With those last words Mei had left her she began quietly sobbing once again, for what seemed like the hundredth time that night. Her shoulders were shaking with her silent cries of desperation, tears falling harder.
Yuzu fell back on her now empty, cold, and lonesome bed. The clouds opened up and began to rain, almost as if the sky was weeping with her at her lost love.
She cried herself to sleep that night..
Upon waking in the morning earlier than she is used to, she thought, "it's just a dream," and smiled to herself, rolling over to greet her love, and finding the space next to her empty. Her smile faded, recalling the events of the night prior, "Mei" Rolling out of bed she prepared for school, but found herself unable to dress in her usual 'Yuzu-esk' fashion. Sighing to herself she, for the first time ever, dressed in the standard school uniform. Forgoing her makeup as well. Upon dressing and brushing her hair, throwing it up into a sloppy side style, she looked into her mirror. "Here we go, can you do this Yuzu?" Looking down doubting herself she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
Steeling herself for the guaranteed long day ahead she left her house and locked the door, heading down her all to familiar path to her school. Not noticing that it was well before she needed to leave.
*cloudy skies, slight chill in the air*
" Hah, seems the weather reflects my mood" Yuzu said to herself as she continued walking.
She barely noticed the empty yard as she reached the school, mindlessly walking to her locker to switch her shoes and heading to class with books.
*Mei's POV*
Doing her rounds before school started is customary though she had shown up much earlier, trying to keep her mind off of everything that had happened. Everything was normal as it was every morning. Until that is, she saw one singular student walking in an almost zombified state.
From afar she looked familiar but Mei couldn't place her, as the morning was cold and gloomy, but Mei could almost swear the hair looked like her step sister, but then noticed the uniform. "Nah, couldn't be" she mumbled to herself.
"Yuzu.." Mei stopped and took a deep breath and calmed herself. Feeling an ache deep in her chest, she continued her rounds and eventually students started showing up.
Taking her post at the front of the school, she waited for the last of the students and headed to her locker before class. not noticing Yuzu show up she was a little disappointed, she thought she would at least catch a small sight of the one who warmed her heart and made her feel.
"At least I'll see her in class" slightly smirking to herself, she headed to class expectantly.
