Lazy.

That's the one word to describe me right now.

I'm laying on my bed, under the covers, pondering about my past experience in the underworld.

The screams.

The blood.

The fire.

The horror.

I remember it all.

The Queen's men came to my home village. They heard news of the prophecy and got information from some under cover scouts in our town.

They knew it was me.

"Get out, Get out now!" Dad yelled as he stormed through the house.

He turned to me his serious face softened.

"Sweet heart, remember our little spot in the forest? Go there, you'll be safe. Run fast and don't look back. Don't worry about us, ok?" He said patting my head.

I nodded.

He gave me one last hug before he grabbed some sort of weapon and rushed out into the chaos.

I grabbed my scroll and got out the house through the back door. I cringed at the sound of yelling and screaming, as I climbed the fence. The buildings were on fire. There were bodies dropping on the ground.

I ran.

Down the stone path. Took a right turn at the bakery and sharp left towards the forest.

As I made it to the outskirts of the town I heard a cry for help. I turned to see Ms Opal on the ground, bleeding out. So, I ran to her.

Ms Opal wasn't a big fan of me.

As she saw me, she said my name. I knelt down beside her, applying pressure to the wound.

She may hate me, but I don't want anyone to die.

But it was too late. She spoke her last words. Alas she was gone.

"THERE SHE IS! GET HER!"

I knew it was the army. So, I stood up, ignoring the watery substance swelling up in my eyes.

I bolted into the forest. Just as I entered I took one last look to see the guards stab Ms Opal's body, making sure she was dead.

After everything, I finally made it too the hidden cave. The one my father and I used to visit. He used to say this was our safe place and that no one could hurt me here.

The entrance was covered in moss and vines. I only made it through because I could weave my way in between the plants.

Once I was in, I fell to the ground. I was exhausted, but still I made my way to the pond that lied a few hundred meters away. I sat down, my back against the hard, rocky wall.

Before I knew it I was out like a light.

———

"She so pretty"

"Lillian, stay away from her. She could be dangerous."

"But Elder Reeha..."

"Elder Reeha is right, little sis."

"Don't call me little! I'm only a few minutes younger than you!"

I gently open my eyes, the racket going on won't let me sleep longer.

I rub my eyes, getting rid of the blurry vision.

As my sight clears I spot 3 figures.

There are two children. They seem to be my age. They're both similar in appearance, and an older looking lady. Her pale skin looked as if it glowed and her dark eyes are filled with kindness and a bit of annoyance.

That may be because of the children's non-stop bickering.

"Lillian, Lucas. Stop arguing. She's awake."

The two children instantly stop and face me.

The young girl approached me and held her hand out.

"Hiya strange person! My name is Lillian! This is my twin brother Lucas and Elder Reeha!" She spoke.

I took her hand and as she helped me up I said in a small croaky voice,

"Hi, my name is Adaline. It's nice to meet you all."

"Dear child what brings you here?" The Elder said.

At first I didn't say anything.

But,

My muscles tensed.

"Is it alright if I show you?" I whispered, barely audible. I shuffled in my spot, anxiously waiting for an answer and scared. Scared of the damage and all the destruction.

———

They cautiously follow behind me, as I lead them to the town.

Before they get close enough to the village, I turn around.

"Before we go any closer, you need to take these" I said as my hands glowed. The brightness of the glow dimmed into 4 pills.

"Are you trying to poison us?!" The little boy yelled.

"Shhhh be quiet! They might hear you." I said, my voice laced with seriousness as I covered his mouth.

"If you don't trust me then I'll take mine first" I continued.

I popped the pill in my mouth, and swallowed it.

"See. Not poison."

"What exactly does this do?" Elder Reeha asked, as Lillian took the pill.

"These pills are made from my magic. They allow me to hide you. So if you get spotted then I can make you invisible or blend in with our surroundings." I explained.

Once we all had taken the pill, we went closer.

"If you see any guards, notify me. Don't fight them"

As we entered the town, the destruction was unbearable. The place I grew up, was run to the ground by our queen.

"This was my home." I started.

"Last night the Queens army came attacking our village. They heard of the prophecy being real, and from a scout in our town, they knew that the prophecy lived here."

I spotted Ms Opal's body near by.

I walked towards it, when getting closer, I remembered every detail.

"This is all your fault" her last words lingered in my head.

You were right,

This is all my fault
