"All right class, you are dismissed." the teacher didn't have to tell her twice.
Nodoka grabbed her belongings in a swift motion before tucking them safely into her backpack and made her way out of the room without attracting too much attention.
A fair share of people knew her in different year levels mainly for three reasons;
One, she got into Ouran Academy through a scholarship.
Two, she doesn't wear the assigned uniform because she came from a poor family and can't afford one.
Three, she carries a blue notebook. All the time.
It served as her trademark. The type that would make people go,
Person A: 'Nodoka Kitagawa?'
Person B: 'You know, that first year student who carries a blue notebook wherever she goes.'
With that description, people would instantly recognize her. And she despised that.
For instance, Nodoka didn't like the attention. She liked to think that it was just her; her black, ballpoint pen; her blue notebook; and her fragile thoughts.
She didn't want to hangout with anyone. She didn't want to be surrounded by a bunch of students who were very far from her state in life. She didn't want to fall into a trap of false facades once more.
This year, she wants to evade attention as much as possible while simultaneously excelling academically. It was for her mother and her future anyway.
She'll make it.
I will make it.
Pushing the huge double doors open to one of Ouran Academy's ginormous libraries, Nodoka hesitantly stepped inside.
The library, ironically, is noisy and packed with people. It's not how Nodoka expected it to be.
Back at her first day, she thought that everyone was completely normal. They reached her expectations of how rich people normally act but she definitely did not expect that they were eccentric in their own way.
The school possesses a lot of qualities that could pass as 'far from the norm' but Nodoka isn't really all that bothered. It's not as if she's tucked into the mess various strange clubs created.
After heavy thirty-nine steps from the entrance to the farthest position in the corner, Nodoka found a little peace and quiet. A few people looked at her and at the notebook clasped in her hands but she ignored it and for her, ignorance is a must.
Once she's sat down, she gently places her blue notebook on the table. She grabs her favorite pen from her pencil case and flips the pages to a blank one ... and thinks.
Nodoka loves to write. But she doesn't immediately pen her thoughts on paper without thinking it thoroughly. She wants to make sure that before she even wrote something, her words are worthy enough to be written on paper.
Trees and leaves don't sacrifice themselves for nothing.
So she thinks, thinks and thinks.
Writes, writes and writes.
Blocks, blocks and blocks.
Then leaves, leaves and leaves.
But she left something behind.
