Josh's POV

Packing is hard. Today is hard. I don't want to move from this bed. I want to snuggle up under the blankets and stay here forever. Why is the sun up? I will never understand morning people... My inner monologue is cut short when the silence is broken by a loud playful laugh. Her laugh.

"... slow down Riles!" She giggles. The sound bounces off the walls and hits me straight in the heart. That's why I'll get out of bed today. Because of her. Because of her laugh, and her smile and the way her eyes sparkle when she looks up at me.

I wait a while before I get up though. Just relishing in the feeling that the sound of her voice has left me with. Happiness. After a few minutes, i throw the covers back and wander into my private bathroom. I turn on the water and strip. I climb into the shower and wash myself quickly. I want to see her. I need to see her.

I grab a towel and try myself hastily, allowing my hair to just fall where it may. I slip into some sweat pants and a tight v neck, pull on my boots and start packing.

I have almost everything in my suitcase when I hear a knock at the door. Oh please let it be her I say to myself as I pull it open. Disappointment is clearly written on my face when I see my brother.

"We need to have a serious conversation Josh." He says to me as hes leaning in my doorway. I know exactly what this is about and I dont want to have this conversation. I don't want to hear what he has to say, because hes always right. I sigh and motion for him to come in anyway. I run my hands through my damp hair nervously as we both take a seat on the bed. The bed I was now wishing I never got out of this morning.

"So you heard, huh?" I asked in a worried tone. He nodded his head and chuckled. Oh boy. I'm in for it.

"Josh, I don't want you to think I'm here to lecture you or try and convince you what you and Maya agreed on is wrong in any way." He says, trying to reassure me that this isnt going to be 'one of those' talks. I nod, kinda shocked, and he continues. "I think its probably one of the most mature things the two of you have ever done. Topanga and I had a similar deal once upon a time,  and well, you see how that turned out." He chuckles, clearly letting his mind wander back to that day.

"So what are you trying to say Cor?" I ask him, bringing him back to the present. I laugh when he looks at me like a deer caught in headlights. He shakes it off quickly and continues.

"What I'm trying to say, is that, I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you and Maya both. I've watched you both grow and mature into these brilliant and talented young adults." He let's out a sigh. He's looking at me with such pride, and as I'm listening to his words I find myself choking back tears. "What I'm trying to say is that, I really, truly hope you and Maya get your someday, Josh." He continues.

"That means so much to me Cory!" I exclaim as I throw my arms around my older brother. His opinion means everything to me. He holds me for a moment before letting me go and smiling at me.

"It will all work out the way it's meant to. Be patient. Be mindful. Be you, little brother." He says before standing up and heading for the door. I  stand too, and follow him. He opens the door, but before he closes it behind him I yell, "Thanks for the talk Cor!" He laughs and shouts the door, leaving me to return to packing and thinking about my someday.
