Chapter 19

Maya's POV

"The sand is so hot! I cant wait to get my feet in the water." Riley says as we walk along the beach, looking for the perfect spot. It's not busy or anything, but we're hoping for a more secluded spot.

"Boy am I glad I'm up here than!" I laugh. Causing everyone else to join in. I lean in and whisper to Josh, "Are you okay? I'm, not, like, too heavy am I?" He giggles and shakes his head. My own smile spreads and I kiss his cheek quickly.

"This looks like a good spot. What do y'all think?" Lucas asks us. His Texas twang coming through ever so slightly.

"Seems as good a place as any, heehaw." I reply, hopping off Josh's back and dropping my bag.

After we set up, Riley and Lucas run off into the water. Josh sits beside me, opens a beer and takes a long sip. I'm surprised he didnt drain the bottle.

"Thirsty?" I ask him, leaning over and snatching the bottle out of his hand and taking a drink myself. When I remove the ice cold bottle from my lips, I cant help but laugh at the expression on his face. Hes amused and shocked all at the same time.

"Where did you come from? Honestly." He says smiling at me. I love that smile. It's the one I live for. The one that takes my breath away and leaves me unable to speak. He takes his beer back and places it in the sand. He stands, takes my hand and helps me up. As he wraps his arm around me I lean in. I see the sparkle in his eyes when I do.

Just as his eyes begin to close I laugh, taking his hand that's already in mine and pulling him towards the water. He laughs with me and runs at my side, never letting go. When we reach the water, he releases my hand, scoops me up in both arms, spinning me around.

"Tease." He whispers playfully in my ear as he sets me down. I look up at him with a triumphant grin and he leans down, placing his lips on mine. I instantly thread my fingers in his hair, pulling him somehow even closer to me. I part my lips, silently begging for more. I feel the smile playing on his lips as he gives me exactly what I want. My senses are overloaded. My knees are weak. I completely forget about the entire world around us. In that moment there is only me and Josh.
