Chapter 26

A/N: Okay, so please don't hate me for doing this chapter in Lucas' POV... I dont know why I did it! I guess I felt like it's just been a while since we saw something through his eyes. Enjoy ❤

Lucas' POV

Holy shit! He hit me! I didnt think he had it in him. I touch my lip briefly and look at my hand. Great, I'm bleeding. Before I even think, I'm picking myself up off the ground and hurling myself towards him, tackling him to the ground.

"LUCAS! GET OFF HIM!!" I hear Riley scream at me while Josh and I fight for dominance. He has me pinned and is trying to keep me that way while I take swing after swing at his face, missing every time.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?! JOSH!!! STOP!!" I hear Maya's voice next. The sound of her voice breaks my focus and I look at her for a moment. A moment that doesnt go unnoticed by Josh. He let's go of me with one hand and is about to bring it down to hit me again when she speaks again. This time shes crying and pleading.

"Babe, please..." she begs him and he stops mid swing. For a guy who had zero self control a few minutes ago, he seems to have found some. He stares down at me for a moment before letting go and moving to where Maya stands. Riley quickly moves to my side and starts questioning me about what the hell just happened.

"I dont know Riles..." I say trailing off. Then it hits me. Maya must have told him about last night. A smirk pulls at my lips as I realize that he hit me because he's jealous. He feels threatened by me. Once again, Maya's voice brings me back to reality.

"... I just need time Josh. I need to be alone." She says to him before walking away. Ouch.

"You two are complete idiots! How could you think for a second that, whatever the HELL that was, would be an appropriate way to deal with anything!?" Riley raises her voice, looking between Josh and I. I feel like a child being scolded by his mother. Apparently Josh feels differently because he starts to defend himself.

"He made a move on her Riley!" Josh shouts, but then calms himself before he continues. "She came to see you, but instead he was there. He comforted her, wiped her tears and then when she was ready to leave he asked her to stay with him for the night." Josh explains. He sounds almost broken now. What happened to the man who just hit me?

Riley turns to me after hearing her uncle describe the events of the night before. She looks disappointed in me. I know exactly why too. I had told her I wasn't going to pursue Maya, and then I did.

"I have always told you to go after what you want Lucas. I have never told you to stay away from Maya. I've never told you that she's with Josh and you need to back off. As much as I love Josh, I support you and how you feel for Maya. BUT!! You decided to make your move while she was vulnerable. You tried to take advantage of her while she was in a fragile state..." Riley trails off. I dont want to hear any more. I want to find Maya and apologize. Riley isn't wrong. I tried to use a crappy situation and turn it into something it wasn't. Shit!

"I think you should go, Lucas." Riley says simply. I dont want to go though. I want to find Maya and I want to tell her how sorry I am. I want her to know how horrible I feel. I feel my knees buckle underneath me and I fall into the dirt, my head in my hands.

Eventually I hear Riley and Josh walk away. I look up briefly and see them sitting by the fire. I look back at the ground and let my tears continue to fall.
