Maya's POV
"HA! I BEAT YOU!" I shout as Riley comes up behind me, panting like a dog out of breath. She puts her hand on my shoulder and glares at me.
"You cheated!" She exclaims. I mean, shes not wrong. I may have pushed her once or twice to keep her from taking the lead. I did not however, make her stop to apologize to the tree she bumped into.
"Riles, you stopped to apologize to a tree! I won, almost fare and square." I say between exasperated laughs. She shrugs and starts laughing with me.
"Well, it seems as though you two are having a great morning." Topanga laughs as she meets us outside. We must look like lunatics by now as we start laughing even harder at what she says. Finally we calm ourselves and Riley is the first one to speak.
"So when do we leave, mom?" She asks with a sadness to her voice. I make a mental note that, no matter what, we have to come back here someday.
"Right now. EVERYBODY ON THE BUS!" Mr. Matthews shouts as he walks out the door, with a pile of my classmates following him.
Well, this is it, I tell myself. Time to say goodbye to the ski lodge and return to reality. I'm not sure I'm ready for reality just yet, but I dont have a choice. As I turn to join the group heading for the bus, I feel an arm slip around my waist. I dont even need to turn to know who it is, as i can feel the electricity flow through every inch he touches. I feel his how breath on my skin when he leans down to whisper in my ear.
"Sit with me, gorgeous?" He says, sending a shiver of pleasure through by body.
"Mmhmm" is all I manage to get out. He chuckles and leads me to the bus, allowing me to sit first and sliding in beside me.
