Josh's POV

Well, four hours, two applications of sunscreen and eight shared beers later, we decided it was time to head back to the campsite for something to eat. I'm nowhere near intoxicated, but I have a very happy buzz going. I look back to Maya, who is hanging off Riley, laughing at something, and I smile. I'm so grateful for her presence in my life.

When we arrive back at the campsite, the girls drop their bags and grab chairs to sit near the fire pit. Lucas desides to start a fire while I grab each of the girls a bottle of water and ask them what they'd like for dinner.

"S'mores!!" Maya yells and falls into a fit of giggles. She may be slightly more intoxicated than I originally thought. I'm glad I grabbed her water. Riley nods in agreement, laughing right next to her best friend.

"S'mores it is." I agree. I place a kiss on Maya's head and she smiles up at me before I turn to go grab everything we need to make dinner.

"Wanna take a walk with me, gorgeous?" I ask Maya quietly as we sit watching the fire. She looks so relaxed and peaceful, lounging in her fold out chair, wrapped in her leggings and my over sized sweater. She takes my hand and nods. When we stand, Riley decides to speak up.

"Going for a walk? We'll come with you. Lucas, let's go walk with them." She rushes, jumping out of her seat before Lucas surprises her by wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her down into his lap.

"How about we stay here and watch this fire while they go for their walk alone." He says. Riley looks annoyed for a moment but nods in agreement and tells us to stay safe. Hmm, maybe he's not so bad after all.

"I've never been unsafe with Josh." Maya says, smiling back at the pair of her old-but-new-again friends. We fall into step beside each other,  hands connected, as we make our way to the beach.
