flashback ———

another school year passed by.

they were now on second grade.

eru and taehyung became closer than before. they always played together and ate at recess together. eru frequently called taehyung ‘taetae’ or ‘box smile’ because of his unique smile.

“ya, eru! put that down!” taehyung shouted at her while they were playing at the playground. eru got hold of a dragonfly and started shoving it to taehyung's face. it amused eru to see taehyung's scared expression.

“why? dragonflys won't hurt you!” she shrieked while laughing out loud, still shoving the poor dragonfly to taehyung's chubby face.

taehyung whirled around and noticed a cockroach creeping by the wet grassy soil. an idea crossed his mind as he quickly stepped on it, killing it instantly due to his force and his weight. he held it on its antennae. when he suddenly whirled around eru, he waved the poor insect at eru's face. not more than a second passed as eru's shrilly cries echoed all over the place, disgust and fear clearly written on her poor face.

seeing eru's reactions, taehyung threw his head back and laughed aloud. at eru's panic, she released the dragonfly and taehyung was relieved.

taehyung was good at math and eru was the best in english.

it made them an inseperable team.
a balanced one, to say the least.

when eru was having troubles, taehyung was there to help her solve mathematical equations. when taehyung was scratching the back of his head because he couldn't understand a few words and sentences, eru was there to guide him to read and write.

oftentimes, due to their closeness, their classmates would tease them and ask if they like each other. eru would blush and quickly deny. she had no idea what ‘like’ or ‘crush’ meant and all eru know is that they're bestfriends; their relationship was purely platonic.
