Emily: You can’t blame yourself.

Benny: Both of them made their own decisions.

Emily: Big boys, choosing their own candy. They don’t need mommy to pick for them.

Me: Tony said he was leaving because he hates me.

Benny: Tony’s full of shit.

Me: And Rajeev has been… distant ever since I turned him down.

Emily: He’s bitter, sour. Not sweet. Not like you.

Benny: He doesn’t know how to deal with his own emotions. That’s not your fault.

Me: But I helped make them angry! It is my fault.

Benny: Maybe its a little bit your fault, but it’s ours, too.

Emily: It's not like we were the nicest either.

Benny: I get that you’re a natural leader, Lia. But that doesn’t mean you have to take responsibility for things that aren’t your fault.

Me: But this is my fault.

Benny: It’s not your fault that neither of them know how to deal with their anger.

Emily: They shouldn’t take it out on you. We’re all having a hard time.

Benny: No more of this being sorry for yourself! We have things to do. Or did you forget that school starts in less than a week.

Emily: If it’s bugging you do much, why don’t you apologize at school?

Me: Because then Tony will get suspended for punching me in the face.

Benny: Speaking of getting punched in the face, how’s that bruise that Jaeb gave you.

Me: She almost broke my face.

Benny: They’re jerks. We should blame all our problems on them.
