No. It can't be true. She wouldn't do that. She wouldn't. She didn't. Hannah Baker didn't kill herself. I can't handle this. I need to find Y/N. She'll help me.

(Y/N's P.O.V)

Hannah Baker killed herself. Just shows how shit this school is. As I begin to feel tears slide down my cheeks, I hear a familiar voice call my name. Clay. I turn around and sprint towards him engulfing him in a tight hug.

'Please tell me it's a lie.' Clay sobs.
'I can't' I mumble.
'No! It's a lie! She's not really gone!' he screams.
'I wish I could tell you it was.' I choke out.

He then collapses in my arms, sobbing violently. As I stand there and watch him cry, I begin crying. We both hold each other, trying to console each other, but failing. I begin to come back to reality and realise we had a free period.

'D-d-do you w-wanna go h-home?' I ask feebly.
'Yeah I g-guess...' he mutters.

I manage to get him to stand and drag him to my car. We got in and I started the engine. Then we were gone. By the time we got to my house, Clay had gotten better. This time it was my turn to break down. I could barely walk so Clay picked me up and carried me into my house. No-one was home, my parents were at work and my brother still at school.

I carried Y/N to her bedroom and sat on her bed. Then I just sat there holding her close as she sobbed. Suddenly, she began shaking. Her learning about Hannah's suicide triggered one of her panic attacks.

'C-c-clay...' she mutters.
'Hey, hey Y/N. Listen to me ok,' I start.
'O-ok.' she replies.
'Listen to me, focus one me. Now, take a deep breath. In and out. In and out.' I state.

It sounds ridiculous but it works. Soon, her breathing had become normal again. We stayed in our hugging position for the next 20 minutes, until she finally spoke.

'Thank you Clay. For everything.' she says.
'Your welcome Y/N. And thank you for everything you've done for me.' I reply.
'What have I done for you?' she asks.
'You've shown me it's ok to love your best friend.' I blurt out.
'W-what? You l-love me?' She stutters.
'I do. I love you so much and I hope you know that.' I state proudly.
'I- I love you to Clay.'
