The past few weeks I've been practising one of my favourite songs, 'Don't Stop Believin'. This week I tried to sing with it, but I need someone else to sing with me, preferably a guy. Maybe Alex will sing with me? I'll ask him today at band.

*time skip to band*

As usual Alex and I were the first people there. Now's the perfect time to ask him. But will he say yes? I've never actually heard him sing before. How is that possible? We have jam sessions all the time and we sing all the time in band. Weird. Anyway, I think it's best I ask him after band, or maybe I even text him later. More students filled the band room and now the teacher came in. It was time to play.

So, I forgot to ask Alex about the duet. I guess I'll have to text him.

Hey Alex.

Hey Y/N.

I have to ask you something.

What?

Would you wanna work on a cover with me?

What song is it?

Don't Stop Believin'

OK

OK. I'll see you at school. Bye.

Bye.

Ok, so that was easier than expected.

What have I just signed up for? I don't think I can sing. Well. This is a recipe for disaster. Singing. I'm not sure about this. I wonder what this will turn out like?

*time skip to next day at school*

I walk down the hallway, avoiding eye contact with everyone. I trudge to the music room, I was supposed to meet Y/N there at 10:30, it's now 11. She's gonna kill me. I walk inside to see Y/N sat playing the piano. She immediately started yelling at me asking where I was. After a while she calmed down.

'We need to practise. OK. So, we alternate verses, and both sing the chorus and you start.' I suggest.
'OK.'

She began to play the chords on the piano and I played them on my guitar.

Just a small town girl,
Living in a lonely world,
She took the midnight train going anywhere.

Just a city boy,
Born and raised in South Detroit,
He took the midnight train going anywhere.

A singer in a smokey room,
The smell of wine and cheap perfume,
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on.

Strangers waiting,
Up and down the boulevard,
Shadows searching,
In the night,
Street light people,
Living just to find emotion,
Hiding somewhere in the night.

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill,
Paying anything to roll the dice
Just one more time,
Some will win,
Some will lose,
Some were born to sing the blues,
Oh, the movie never ends,
It goes on and on and on and on.

Don't stop believin',
Hold onto that feeling,
Streetlight people,
Don't stop believin',
Hold onto that feeling,
Streetlight people.

'That went really well' I state happily.
'Yeah it did'
