Rachel wasn't in the apartment when we came in. We searched every room. (Y/N) stayed by my side, still feeling as though she couldn't leave it. She said she'd stay by my side as much as possible, that way if anything happens, we can protect each other. She's full of cheesy shit like that.

I don't know what I'd do without her.

"What if she's on the roof?" (Y/N) asked, her eyebrows now knitted together.
"Let's go." I sighed.

The two of us, Dawn and Hank following close behind, walked up the steep steps towards the roof. I reached for the cold steel door handle and pushed it down briskly, opening our warm skin to the cold air of Michigan. We stepped out and when I turned I saw Rachel. She was stood, arms folded, feet shoulder width apart, clearly upset, in front of the bird cage.

"Rachel, what are you doing up here?" I asked. My feet moved fast as I found myself next to her.
"You were going to leave me." She said. It was a simple statement. But it pulled so much guilt out of me.
"I was going to come back for you." I reassured.
She touched my hand and straight away stared me dead in the eyes.
"Liar."
"I'm not lying, I was going to come back for you!" I heard (Y/N)'s footsteps behind me as she joined my side.
"Dick, what is she talking about?" Her voice was laced with a confusion I have yet to hear, I had never known her to be confused.

"He was going to leave me here with them." Rachel explained. I knew that what I was saying was not true but I had to defend myself.
"No... no I-"
"Is this true?" "Well... yes... but that's not the point..." I whispered, inaudibly... but it was still loud enough for (Y/N) to hear.
"You were gonna dump her with us?" Hank asked in a really aggressive tone.
"No, it's not what it sounds like!" I tried again but Rachel gave him the letter and the money.

I watched as Hank skimmed the letter and then looked at me dead in the eyes.

"Sure sounds like it is to me." He still stares at me.

This goes on for a while before... people... walk out from no where.Just people. My eyebrows furrowed and my lips parted as I grabbed (Y/N)'s hand. I grabbed it tight. Like it would be the last time I would ever have the honour of holding it.

But it happened it too quick.

It all did.

And I couldn't do anything to stop it.

There were punches and there were kicks and there were pushes and there were screams and I couldn't see and I couldn't breathe and I couldn't move and I could only hear one noise rushing through my head, it was one noise that drowned out the rest and brought me back to the reality of the fight.

The reality of the feeling.

The reality of the fall.

A scream.

From one person.

One girl.

One life.

"DICK!"

It was blood curdeling, heart wrenching and I felt the pull. My feet were moving before I commanded them to do so. My blood was pumping with adrenaline and my heart was aching with an undescribable feeling.I threw my upper half over the edge. Right over the edge, barely hanging onto the wall to hold my own weight.

"(Y/N)!" I scream out loud.

Everyone stopped.

Everything went quiet and still and it was just (Y/N) and me. I reached my hand out to her and my finger tips were there. They touched her hands. They were right there. About to grab her. Ready to save her. I could see the look in her eye. The fear was growing and I didn't understand until it was too late to grab her.

The pole came out of no where and pushed her hands off the ledge.

She fell.

She was falling.

She was falling.

Everything was in slow motion.

The scream.

The pull.

The pounding.

The everything.

The deja vu.

I let her down.

I let them down.

I let her fall.

I let them fall.

And now she's gone.

And now they're gone.

I'm alone.

I'm alone.
