The Proposal || Newt Scamander

Everything is perfect, all the animals are in their places, the fireflies neatly in a line. Now all I need is her.

My hands begin to shake in my pockets as my hands brush against the velvet box. I anxiously wait for her angelic voice to announce her presence. Pickett holds on to my neck, almost attempting to hug me, sensing my paranoia. I breathe deeply, trying to regain the air that I seem to be losing at an alarming rate.

Suddenly, her voice rings throughout the suitcase, "Newt? I'm home dear."

Sweat drenches me instantly, I begin to question everything I've done.

Until she walks in...

Her face lights up, she smiles grandly as she delicately places one foot in front of the other towards me.

"What's all this?" she asks.
"It's for something special." I answer coyly.
"Which is?"

I don't respond and drag her towards Frank's habitat.

"Do you remember what happened here?"
"Our first kiss." she smiles, "What's the occasion?"
"Okay" I breathe out.

"W-will... Would you... Do me the honours of becoming my husband- I mean wife- if you want to marry me, that is. I mean... You don't have to, of course b-but maybe you might like to consider the idea? Being my wife that is, not husband. If you want to. If you really want to, I guess what I'm really saying is that... Ummm... Wait did I just repeat myself?" I blurt out.

Before I speak another word, she places her lips on mine.

"Yes Newt. I will marry you." she chuckles.

I smile widely and pull out the velevet box, slowly opening it.

"Where's the ring?" she asks.
"Goddammit! Where's the niffler!?" I yell.

I spot the niffler shoving the ring into his pouch. I sprint towards him and manage to pry the ring from his grasp. Y/N simply watches and laughs as I desperately try to hide the blush that I can feel has risen to my cheeks..

"I love you Y/N L/N" I say as I slip the ring onto her finger.
"I love you too Newt Scamander."
