This scorch has to be one if the most bipolar of places. During the day, it is one of the hottest landmasses on what's left of the earth. Then at night it's freezing. It's dark, cold, with very little light provided by our minute fire. Majority of the gladers are asleep, including Y/N who is laid just behind me. The only people still awake are Thomas, Minho, Teresa and myself. Thomas and Minho are trying to figure out ways to optimise our success, trying to find ways for us to walk further in less time.

"I have an idea," Teresa perks up, "Why don't we leave the slow ones behind."
"And who would that be?"
"Anyone who can't keep pace with the four of us. Oh and Y/N. She's crumbling in this heat and we don't need a deadweight slowing us down."
"What?!" I ask harshly, slightly raising my voice.
"Come on Newt you know I'm right" she retorts.
"Y/N may not be able to keep up but neither can I remember. She has a shucked foot and I have a shucked leg so leave her behind and you leave me behind."
"No. You don't have to stay with her. I don't get what you see in her anyway... I mean it's like you said she was stupid enough to mess up her foot. It's as if she wanted to be a burden to us." Teresa complains.
"Slim it! You have no idea what Y/N is going through because you don't even have the courtesy to ask! So don't you ever say that my girlfriend is a burden just because she walks a few centimetres behind you!" I yell at her.

Silence falls and Thomas, Minho and Teresa all stare at me with wide eyes.

"Never complain about MY Y/N."
