"Are you still watching"

Soon after their conversation, Evan told his mom what had happened. Connor was surprised to see Evan holding it together better than he was. He had always seen himself as the strong type and Evan as...well, not. It was nice to know that he had someone he could rely on in that way. Connor couldn't remember the last time he had that.

Heidi had embraced Connor in a hug after Evan told her what had happened. It was warm, and safe, and maybe even like home. Connor leaned into the embrace, and let himself finally break down. He hadn't meant to put up a facade, a screen over the darkness and sadness that had been piling up, but it came crashing down anyways.

He had known it was coming sooner or later, but hasn't let himself think about it all that much. The coma had been a lot, but he had held himself together alright. After Evan agreed to date him it became easier for a little while, but the stress built up. He had known that as soon as he set his mind on dating Evan, he would eventually have to tell his parents. The weight of that, and the weight of his big secret had pressed hard against his chest until he finally broke. He had broken in Heidi's arms.

Evan came around from behind and hugged his back. Suddenly he was sandwiched in between two Hansen's, and he cried even more. This was what he had always wanted. He had always wanted to be loved in this way, and here he was. Heidi tucked a strand of hair that had fallen from behind his ear back. It was gentle and thoughtful.

"You're going to be okay, sweetie" she said, pulling his face to her shoulder. Evan was still behind him with his hands wrapped around his waist. Connor just sniffed a little and nodded from his place in her shoulder.

They ended up staying like that for a while until Heidi's phone rang. She pulled away to answer,  and walked into the other room. Connor felt Evan pull away from him, so he twisted around to look at him. Evan smiled softly at him and stood on in tips of his toes. When his mouth pressed to Connors it was soft. There was nothing intense and wet about it, it was just....sweet. If anything, it felt like he was surrounded by purely Evan. He was covering his world, like he was trying to kiss out all the bad.

When Evan pulled back he gave his sheepish smile again, and signed. "Thank you." As evan signed, he mouthed along with the words. Connor gave him a questioning look and signed,

    "Why?"

Evan blushed at his question and signed back at him a little bit faster.

"For letting me see you like that." Connor blushed and looked away, wiping the last of the tear tracks away from his eyes.

"It was disgusting Evan. I seriously don't understand your reasoning." His signs were jagged, as his hands were shaking more than when he had had 5 cups of coffee. Evan seemed to strongly disagree with him as he shook his head adamantly a few times before fixing Connor with a look that could kill.

"Don't say that. You could never be disgusting!" Evan looked him straight in the eyes before continuing "I'm just happy to see this other side of you, and I'm happy that you trusted me enough to show it to me."

Connor finally seemed to understand, and he blushed more if possible. "Try telling me that I could never be disgusting again in a couple of years. I promise I will prove you wrong." Connor tried to crack a grin. Evan smiled widely, blushed, and looked down at the floor.

A few moments later Heidi walked back into the room, saying that she had to head to work. There had been an accident and they need more nurses. Both the boys said goodbye to her as she left the house. However, before she left the house, she signed to both of them "No funny business while I'm gone." She winked as she stood in the doorway.

Evan just closed the door in her face and laughed to himself a bit. Connor was smiling to himself.

It was nice to hear Evan laughing because he heard his voice. It was something rare, but Connor loved it. Quite a few of deaf people choose to speak through vocal coaches, but a lot of other deaf people choose not to. Evan had never spoken to Connor verbally before, and he wasn't against that. Connor would never ask Evan to speak just for him. That would be a complete invasion of his culture, and the culture Connor was trying to understand. Hearing him laugh however, filled Connor with joy.

Evan had always managed to bring a certain light to him. It wasn't exactly purity, but it was light that shown through all of Connor's darkness. Evan was just amazing in that way.

After a few seconds, Evan seemed to notice Connor's stillness. He walked up to him and tugged on one of his fingers. It was cute, cute enough to pull Connor out of his trance. Evan smiled when Connor looked into his eyes.

"Let's go watch a tv show. It'll get your mind off of everything." Evan signed, motioning towards the living space with a tv mounted to the wall. Connor smiled and nodded his head. Evan always knew exactly what to say to cheer him up.

---------------------------

After about 15 minutes of scrolling through netflix, the two boys decided on the tv show Switched at Birth. Evan had wanted to introduce Connor to the show, and Connor was intrigued by the plot.

As they watched, Evan continued to point out things that were completely accurate about deaf culture. It was cute. What was cuter was when two characters would be signing and the camera wouldn't show it fully. Evan would get pissed off and go on a rant saying that 'this show is targeted towards deaf people and yet they didn't show the signs half the time.' Connor forgot to even mention that the tv was on mute, but he was enjoying the silence.

After a while, Even started to get drowsy. Apparently, he hadn't slept very well the other night, and was trying to cut back on coffee. Because of this, Evan's head was eventually resting on Connor's shoulder.

Evan didn't exactly snore when he slept, it was more of a content sigh than anything else. Connor found it the best thing in the world, even opting to not unmute the tv to hear him. Connor eventually started to doze off too.

Heidi came home a few hours later to find them asleep on eachother with the tv reading the traditional Netflix "Are you still watching?"

A/N: I'm trying to update this as soon as possible because I know i'll forget. For  now this is NOT edited. This is pretty much my crappy rough draft so have fun. (Hi there! This is the editor. I just edited this new chapter, and am working back, editing all the other chapters. They should be done pretty soon, hope it's good!)

I've noticing that my writing had changed a lot since I started this story. If you read the first chapter and then this you'll see a big difference. I really want to edit my first few chapter and make them better and longer, but i think i'm going to keep them do that you guys can follow my writing journey with me. School started today and I am officially a highschooler. Yay! I'm pretty happy with this chapter and hope you like it. The last half is basically just fluff, but i feel like you guys deserve/need it. I LOVE YOU!

With much love,

    Elly

Ps. enjoy this picture one of my other cats Arya.

Should i post more pictures of my cat with every chapter? Lemme know.
