"Have you read Animal farm?" Connor asked Evan.

"No, not yet. Why?" Evan asked. He hadn't been reading Mrs. Nee's lips. Connor explained to him that they were paired up for the book project on it. Evan blushed again. It was cute. HE was cute.

"Do you want to come over to my house, or should I got over to your's?" Evan asked. Connor didn't really want Evan to find out what his home life was like, no one should have to see that. It's not really something he wanted to show anyone.

"Let's go to your's." Evan looked really happy with his answer. The rest of the class went by in a flash. All they did was plan out the project. Some of the kids were staring at them. Connor flipped them off. He didn't have any other classes with Evan, unless lunch was a class, but if lunch was a class, Connor wouldn't be failing right now.

They met up in the cafeteria by accident. Evan was walking over to a table in the corner and Connor was walking passed when he saw him and waved him over.

"Can I sit with you?" Evan beamed at him.

"That's what friends do right?" Evan signed back. Friends. He made a friend. A true friend, not just someone who was forced to hang out with him because of Zoe. He could get used to it, too.

"We're friends now? Really?" Connor asked making sure to use the right facial expressions. Evan nodded his head very rigorously. It was adorable in Connor's eyes.

They sat down at the table Evan was heading to. Connor normally ate outside where no one could see him, so heads turned when they saw him sit next to the new kid.

"Why don't you sit with your friends?" Evan questioned.

"I don't have any." Connor signed. It wasn't his intention to make Evan sad but he was you could see it in his his face suddenly dropped and eyes looked down. His hand was bundled in his shirt twisting it into a knot. Face was slightly flushed again as he looked up.

"You have me now!" God, could he get anymore adorable than this? Connor smiled a huge smile aimed directly at Evan, who looked blinded. He was flustered. His cheeks were a unnatural red color and his eyes were aimed downwards again as he fiddled with the bottom of his shirt.

Connor tapped him on his shoulder. Evan looked up and Connor signed. "I know I do."
If it was possible the boy was even more flustered.

The rest of lunch was relatively quiet for the two boys. Once in a while one of them would speak up and ask a question about the other person. So far, Connor knew that Evan's favorite color is baby blue, he had a turtle as a kid but it died after getting stepped on by his dad, and he lived with his mom in a small apartment.

Evan had learned that Connor's favorite color was purple, he had one cat named Sophia, and he lived with his mom, dad, and sister Zoe. They agreed to meet up around 4:00 at Evan's apartment. He wrote his address on Connors arm. Connor debated never washing that arm again.

When the class bell rang, Evan stood up and said goodbye to Connor. Connor said goodbye as well, but was cut off by Evan. Evan had wrapped his arms around Connor's waist, and was hugging him tightly.

Evan was hugging him. Evan was hugging him. Evan was hugging him. Evanwashugginghim. Evan Hansen the fucking most adorable being on this planet was hugging HIM!! Of all people.

Evan pulled back and signed "see you after school." Then walked off, leaving a stunned Murphy behind.
