I sat there, re-reading the letter a thousand times. I couldn't believe it! I was so happy to be given the offer to go, but a five year course in London... that's a long time. I didn't know what to do.

Suddenly there was knock at the door, which knocked me out of my thoughts. I hurried to the front door to see Sal stood there, in his blue jacket and jeans. I opened the door and invited him inside.
"Hey Rachel, you okay?" Sal said.
"No..." I begun.
"Why not??" Sal asked, with growing concern.
"This" I said as I handed Sal the letter. I saw him smile at the first part, then watched as his face dropped as he saw the second part.
"F-five years?? London?" Sal said, just like I did. I watched as his eyes squinted, as if he thought he read it won't- but he didn't.
"Yeah but it's fine" I begun. "Because I'm not going to go" I told him.
"Why not?" Sal asked.
"Because Of you.. and me!" I said with a faint smile.
"Rachel... you can't throw away an opportunity like this! Not for me, anyway" Sal explained.
"Sal... I can't leave you. We have only begun dating" I argued.
"And we will date for five more years!" Sal said enthusiastically to make me feel better, though, I knew he was upset.
"Sal... I'm not moving to England! It's too far... long distance won't work!" I said to him with tears filling my eyes.
"We can call each other everyday" Sal suggested.
"Do you know how much that would cost overseas?" I said. "That's why I can't phone my parents much" I said.
"Then we will write. Every week!" Sal said. "Rachel... we could do any of these things... but you have to go. You said yourself that you've always wanted to be a write! And now you want to throw it away!" Sal told me.
"But Sal~"
"No buts... you have to do this Rachel!"
